Default V8 5-sp SC300

My V8 lust continues! I have by chance located an SC400 that was hit in the rear. At a local junk yard no less! It has an entire front clip that is good. I am now seriously toying with the idea of buying this car and dropping the engine into my SC300 5-speed. I remember there being a thread a while back about an Australian company that made all the parts necassary to hook the 5 speed to the V8. I checked the past threads and cant find it. So if anyone has any information on where I can find the thread or info on the compnay itself, I would much appreciate it. I dont want this car to scooped out from under me.

The company is Dellow Automotive.....I'll see if I can find the number for you. They make a kit for dropping a supra 5-speed NA transmission into a V8 lexus. I don't know about a V8 into a sc300 but I guess it could work.

yeah it should work

the 5-speed adapter they use may set the transmission back a little furthur though... you may need to customize the 5-speed tranny mount... and you'll prolly need a certain length driveshaft...

Being as a 300 motor will not directly bolt into a 400, I'll assume a 400 motor will not directly bolt into a 300 body w/o adapting the mounts.

save alot of headaches and money and buy a turbo kit for the 300...youll forget the desire for a V8..and they will all be behind you trying to catch up

I would be buying the whole car, the new ECU would come with it. The wiring, as you said, would be a whole other thing.
I would like to go turbo too, but there is a few problems with that. First by the time I finished the turbo, I would have invested more than the car was worth, which goes strongly against my financial sensibilities. Second, I figured that by the time I took what I needed from the SC400 donor, I could part out the rest, and make back a lot of the initial investment, in other words doing it on the cheap. We are definitely working on a budget here. Thirdly, my car has 146,000 miles on it. I know that the 2JZ-GE is rock solid but ther donor car has 50,000 less miles on it. In the long term it might make more sense, as it is a daily driver. Not to take anything away from a Turbo of course. I would love a 500 HP 2JZ-GTE, 6-speed Lex coupe, but I dont have the $20,000 to drop on that.

how much are you gonna spend on the donor car...plus after you take out the entire engine and wiring.....with a damaged rear end the car isnt gonn have much to sell off........and how much are you gonna spend on a turbo...toyomoto stage 1 costs $5500 and a stage 1.5 with fuel and everyhting goes for like 7000 ...scott and computerwiz have made over 400rwhp on these kits....with the beauty of stock compression.........by the time you swap in a motor....buy adapters for the tranny...re weld engine mounts.....re wire the entire car.....make a custom fly wheel.....ect ect...your over 6-7k..and alot of down time on the car....my suggestion is buy a turbo...my car is turboed since 70k miles and has 125 k now.........i know of a chef with a stage 1 plus car that has close to 200k on the car and drives it literally across the country with no issues..and yes its a 5spd....white with stock supra wheels........if you want ease and reliability..a stge 1 or 1.5 kit from toyomoto will be an AWSOME idea.....just ask the guys who have it....if you want help id be glad to help out...Jeff

SC300TURBO, thanks for the advice. The car was only $4000. I also would have had the automatic tranny, my engine, the donor cars wheels, interior, stereo, glass, body panels, lights, etc, etc. I know I could have made the money back that I put into the car. Unfortunately the car has been sold. I never found the number to that company in Australia, so I didnt know what I was getting into to fit the V8 to the 5spd. The Toyomoto kit sounds awesome, but for that kind of investment, I might just get the Supra instead. But the Supras have such ridiculous resale value, I would fell like I was getting ripped off buying one. I was just looking and they are like $25,000 for a low mileage 94. That is an 8 year old car. Ughh! I dont know what to do.
