Talking SC300 W/Blown Engine?

I would like to find a SC300 with a blown engine for sale. My mechanic and I would like to rebuild a SC300 but put in a Lexus V8.
What do you all think?

Why not just start with an SC400?

Default Manual Transmission

I want the manual transmission. A SC400, V-8 with a manual transmission. How about that?

that's assuming the 2JZ transmission on the SC can be directly bolted on to the 1UZ/3UZ (whichever you choose) . . . good luck though !

Default Looks OK

My buddy, who is a mechanic and has worked on these many times believes that one or another of the SC400 V8's will bolt in with very little trouble. If adapters are needed, he would make them. I believe him because he is just now finishing a 1948 Chevy coupe. It looks stock and is,as far as the drive train is concerned, but he upgraded almost everything else. everything from the radio that looks like the original but is really a current model. Disc brakes and so forth. I have seen his work and he is good.
He is the one that did all of the on my 1992 SC400. In other places I have posted pictures.

I have to say, this is the dumbest idea/thread I have ever read on these forums. And I have read a lot of dumb stuff.

Try doing some actual research, and maybe get a competant mechanic. I thing most people on these forums would know more about the SC then he does, which aint exactly sayig a whole lot. If you want a 5-speed with a V8, start out with an SC400 and swap in the transmission. You're trying to make this a million times harder then it has to be.

Ok, I'm done ranting now

Default Always an Airhead

Well, there you are. No matter what new idea comes up, there is always an airthead that steps on it. and that from a person that can't keep a SC on th road!

with all do respect to all persons contributing to this thread, Buying a SC400 and swapping in a manual transmission seems MUCH easier and LESS costly .

He's just pointing out that you're taking the longest possible route to achieve the end result you want.

And an SC V8 with a stick isn't a new idea, it's been discussed a million times before. Do a search. Actually, I believe one of the moderators (Dennis) is in the middle of this swap (or at least he was at one point). However, that CRAZY guy has chosen to do it the easier way, which is all we're suggesting.

And you probably should have started the thread saying you wanted a 5-spd V8 SC, not wanted an SC with a V8.
