Default Check Engine Light - What was your Problem?

My check engine light came on at 106k miles...My dad said he thinks it's the o2 sensor...

Whats the common problem everyone get when that light of deception comes on?

btw, ill follow these steps today: http://www.troublecodes.net/Lexus/
or bring it to advance auto..

Thanks!

I forgot what mine was......It had something to do with a Cat or o2 sensor I think.
I borrowed my friends code reader, looked up the code (it wasnt serious) so I just cleared it.

It came on at 28,000 miles.

Anyway.....it never came back.....

on an OBD2 car, it is rarely a light of deception... in fact, there are reasons that the light comes on that are extremely dangerous to the engine, cats, etc. on obd-2 cars, if the light comes on, something is wrong - sometimes minor, sometimes major... find out asap, theres a few hundred reasons the light could be on...

code 12... rpm signal knock sensor control...

basically it was my distributor.... made my car not run at all.

then i had the fuel pump ecu code... 78 or something like that... never fixed it... i changed out to 3 different ones and none worked so i just did the constant 12v wiring thing to it

potentially...

lots of times, even the gas cap being loose will cause this... obd2 cars have a pressurized fuel system (EVAP), to keep gas fumes from just going into the atmosphere... if the car senses an EVAP leak (such as a loose gas cap), it will set a code - if after two or three "trip cycles" the problem has fixed itself, the light will go off....

there are lots of other reasons, but this is the most common...

When my engine light came on I had a friend (mechanic) look at it, he said it might of been a leak on the intake part of the motor. Several intake hoses were cracked. I disconnected the batterie making the light come off, a week later it was back on. Haven't taken care of it.
