Default Is this a good deal?

92 SC400 150k miles, pretty good condition for $7500.
I haven't had the car inspected by a mechanic, but the only noticeable things so far is slight interior wear.

sounds good if the engine is okay. for a 92, normal wear and tear is expected

Hey VQT, you're right around the corner from me! How you like that SC400? I just bought my wife a 92 LS400 and am now thinking of trading in my truck for an 92 SC400. After riding in that I just can't live with inferior junk any longer

Oh yeah, where di you find that deal?

I was actually looking for an LS400. After looking for about 4 months of LS400 with the owner asking too much. I started looking for the SC400 because it seem that it sell a little less expensive. Still looking for a good price LS400

Saw an ad in a local news paper, free delivered in the mail box. From a private owner lives near route 306. You know the one that run parrallel with the northeast extension.

It took me almost a year of looking before I came across this deal. The car is not in great shape body wise. But if the engine is as good as what people say. THe car has practically every problem that the SC400 have. A/C control LCD broke, doors hinge sags, power door broke, P/S pump leaks...
I change the P/S pump and so far engine wise every seem to hold up fine.

I also bought a White 93 SC400 with 105K miles at the begining of 2001 for $12K. This car is in alot better shape, but for the money I think $7000 with 145K miles is a much better deal

Both cars originated from Lexus of Delaware.

I picked up the LS400 for $8500 with 130k miles. It's the white with grey bottom. It's actually a pretty low level now that I know what to look for. No traction control, no memory buttons, no heated seats and no cd changer. But we still love it. I told my wife last night I was going to get an SC400 and she tells me that's not fair! She's mad because I'm looking at the sporty model. Whatever Anyway, we've had it for 2 weeks now. The LCD is bad, but I found a replacement heater control unit already. Other than that it's in great shape. The door light switches seem a little flaky too, but that's very minor. I was wondering if there was anything I should be looking for if I start looking at SC's. Guess so, huh.

Oh yeah, let me know if you're looking to unload that Green SC400. I might know someone interested

Ha ha, my wife is driving the green sc and she fell in love with it now. I can't even get rid of it to get a LS400

Look for a full loaded SC400. Traction control, heated seat, memory, Nakamichi if possible. All the problems of SC and LS are the same. Speedometer needle light, A/C control LCD, P/S pump, power mirrors, spongy brake. All these thing will break, rather find a car with these problem and lower the price so you can spend the rest money to fix it up. Rather than everything works with higher price, then a few months after you bought it home they started to break and you have to spend MORE money to fix.

Watch out for rolled back odometer cars. There is a guy in Phily. was selling a rolled back SC400. He never let you know where he live. Give all kind of story about the car on why he want to sell it. He even changed phone no. and seller (the guy that bring the car to certain place for you to test drive). I know this because I had two months of carfax that time and the same car show up two different times with two different guy tried to sell it.
I was going to call the cop on him but didn't want to get involved

Thanks for the tips man. I didn't know about the p/s pump, mirrors or brakes. Ours all seem fine for now. :fingers crosed:

Right now I'm debating between another pick-up truck or the SC. Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum. But we're in a handy-man special, so me and Home Depot have become very friendly over the last 2 years. I would really love to get into an SC though.

OKay, how about a swap..My LS for your White SC?

Where did you get the replacement A/C control? How much did it cost you? I need to change the A/C control for the green one.

I was going to order it through www.taprecycling.com for $400, BUT a VERY good friend of mine who is a mechanic found me one somewhere for $150!!! Unfortunately, this is not a regular price. He said his cost from the dealer for a new one is over $560. Talk about needing some vasoline.

I assume the one you getting is from a junkyard

A mechanic should be able to buy from the dealer for less than $300.

A Lexus mechanic, friend? of my brother, was going to sell the A/C controler, the thing that is on top of the stereo for $300 new. I guess when I have the money I'll buy it from him. I better check the price with him again
