The fuse is located in the drivers side kick panel. This fuse blows out every time the fan motor is engaged via the windshield defrost, air conditioning, heater, or just turning on the fan for air circulation. I have searched high and low and cannot find anything related. The climate control is still lit up. I can turn on rear window deffoger and adjust the air intake control button, and air flow control button. The cig lighter still works too. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your help in advance,
Dave
Your post suggests you have a bound up A/C fan-blower motor. This occurs when the brushes wear thin, then twist under the load spring and binds in the brush holder. A replacement remanufactured blower motor should resolve the circuit overload.
Thanks Tammy, I will have it inspected next week. I will let you know the results. I appreciate your help, it has been getting hotter and hotter where I live and I really need the AC.
I had the problem diagnosed and it is not the AC fan blower motor. It is a shorted out harness that , in order to replace, you have to take out the exaust manifold. He quoted me $800.00 to $1000.00 to fix it and reseal the valve cover. He said the oil dripping on the harness along with the heat from the exaust fried the wires.
I decided to get a second opinion on the "short circuit" and found out it was a defective fuse! 1/2 hour and $20.00 bucks later, ice cold A/C! I had asked Mikeloc for a referral to his mechanic. I went down there first thing this morning and had it checked by Able Auto & A/C in LA. THANKS MIKE!
The guy that tried to rip me off was Ricardo @ Angels Auto & A/C in Lawndale. It is right near Marine and Prarie. DO NOT TAKE YOUR RIDE THERE FOR NOTHING.
The guy kept saying how complicated the Lexus are to work on and blah blah blah. You can read the post above. Some of these guys see a Lexus and they just see $$$$.
Again Thanks Mike & Club Lexus Forum for saving me $980.00.
Great to hear you resolution was on the inexpensive side of the scale.. I would not be afraid to up the fuse to 15 Amps (no more) if it let's go again. The wiring should be fine at the amperage draw.
