Windshield Cracked.
My windshield suddenly started cracking from the rear view mirror on down until it reached rock bottom. I'm killing myself right now for not getting it sealed b4 it got huge. Anyway, I have to get a new windshield now and i work at a car dealership so i get somewhat of a discount but they want 400-600 dollars. I know we drive lexus and i know things are expensive because i just did a 1700 tune up 3 months ago but come'on give me a break. Is that true for the price. Surely someone has replaced a windshield. They say the reason for the price is becayse the 1993 SC400's had a tint embedded on the top part of the glass which is hardly noticeable. Any help or cheaper places???
From what I've heard, private installers will do the install itself for under $200. Dealerships are outrageous, don't believe them. Also, does your particular insurance coverage cover this? You may want to find out, many policies cover windshield malfunction in full.

Factory glass is expensive but worth it. There are different grades of glass, some of the cheaper glass is thin. I had a friend replace his windshield with Pinkerton(?) and 3 months after replacement he had to have it replaced from a stone on the expressway.
