Default Who has replaced their windshield?

Was on my way home from Vegas yesterday and a damn rock hit and cracked my windshield. The crack is about the size of a quarter. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them and where they got their windshield replaced. Was thinking about the dealer but damn, it's gonna cost a crap load. Can I get an OEM windshield and take it to an autoglass place and have them do it there? Someone please help me out.

a small crack can usually be filled in and that'll do just fine but if its a severe enough crack, you can always bring it to a shop and have them break it more to claim insurance. insurance companies won't know what happened and you'll get a new window.

i have had 3 windshields, go figure i live in texas, the best thing is that i have windshield proection that covers it in the event that the crack spreads and cannot be covered by a dollar bill. some of the coverages offer the windshield at a discount price others give you a new windshield. the best thing to do is get it repaired, it should get rid of most of the glare and leave a pin sized mark from where they stopped the crack. if i were you i would get windshield protection, it should be around 40 bucks to repair or free is you want to go through insurance.

I have a small crack about this time last year. Insurance covered it except for 100 deduc. I have AAA and they dont even ask or take photos. My crack started as a small dime size. With the temp change it cause the crack to get bigger each day.

Mine as through an oem from Safelite glass. Labor is guarantied for live.

OEM cost with labor is around 1400...at least here in CA. I got one about the size of a quarter in the middle of the windshield. I had it filled the next day and it hasn't spread any since...so for now im going to leave it alone. No need to fix it right away. I have thought about claiming insurance if I can't find a good deal on a new one. My civic cost around 140 to get replaced...and theres nothing special about the is250 windshield, so someone should be willing to do it for a couple hundred...

State Form told me that if I had a problem I would pay my comprehensive deductible, $50 and they would cover replacement with OEM Lexus branded glass.

In my state insurance companies cannot charge a driver to replace a windshield. No deductible, no nothing.

I too replaced my windshield at safelite for just over $300 a year or so ago and I'm very pleased with it. Seems like it's more resistant to rock chips.

$1400 sounds about right for oem windshield. I got a star crack causing by just a very small rock (our windshield sucks). I had it filled, but it's still showing a dot and a few line of cracking. Hope it won't spread.
