I just picked up a twinkie2000's 97 RSP 2JZ-GTE swapped car a couple of weeks ago. I was looking at supras and came across this car, and I fell in love with the color and the quality of the swap. I've been busy getting it registered here in Texas. It's a beautiful car, and I can't wait to start modifying it. I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi, and hope to be a contributing member to the forums. I'll be posting pictures up as soon as I get a good opportunity to take some.
In real life, no one could possibly mistake RSP for Laguna Smurfa....
(though I know that pics can make distinguishing colors difficult)
RSP is a purply metallic blue. A little too purple for my tastes, but looks good. IMHO it looks better on the JZA80 supra, but I think the SC's that are RSP are cool for their rarity, if nothing else.
Laguna Smurfa Blue looks like smurf blue in bright light, but does redeem itself a bit in dusky or overcast conditions where it looks quite a bit darker.
Friends don't let friends buy LSB M3's.
Don't ask me what BMW was thinking when they thought of the color palette for the E-46 M3....
remove Dakar Yellow? replace with Phoenix Yellow (barf)?!?
remove Estoril Blue? not bring back Avus Blue? Replace with Laguna Smurfa?!?
Steel Grey instead of Pewter Grey (yes, I know Steel Grey is also now discontinued)?
BMW makes some really neat colors... too bad they were not offered on the E46 M3.
Now everyone has a red, silver/grey, or black M3... not much variety...
I couldn't help laughing back in 2001 when folks were spending 5-10K over MSRP to get the dealer demo cars... which were _all_ Laguna Smurfa and (most?) had chrome rims.... and all options.
