I did a search and could not find this being posted, but after searching google I found a forum of LS400 people who had this guy swap out their climate control LCD's.

Apparently he did a prettty good job, and he still sells these "LCD Repair Kits' on ebay.

I emailed him and he said he has a kit for the SC series also. $199 DIY, or send your unit to him for $15 more and he will install it.

Anyone ever heard of this guy or his store "Mikado".. Im looking at buying a used Climate control, but am worried that it will have a black screen again.

I looked into this myself and if I didn't have my hands in too many pies I'd start up an LCD business myself.

You can get a new LCD made from your old blacked out one easily in high temp range specs, cost is about $2,500 for the first 5 then around $50 a piece if you order in 100 piece quantities.

Total cash outlay for 105 Brand new LCD's is only $7,500... That is less than $75 a piece and you can sell em for at least $140 each.

I just have too much going on. Someone should do this. Google LCD manufacturers.

 

This guy on ebay sells LCD's that are generic to the lexus autos. They will not be the same. You may get basic numbers.

I have only "heard" things about them and not experienced them for myself, but the buzz is that they are poor quality. Failure within 2 yrs.

Hopefully one day I will be in a position to get them going for everyone. As of right now I am hoping someone comes along with some good quality replacements, but this (from the buzz on the street) is not it.
