Haha yeah I just turned 19 last week... almost everything I make goes towards cars in one way or another... but the good thing is most $ is spent on fixing up and reselling cars for profit.
Well, I pretty much decided to go all out on my interior, and have a few things designed. (not ricer style, or anything tacky... but just straight up classy / sporty
I don't want to give the whole idea away yet, but I think you guys will love it.
I'm actually considering doing a lot more to the SC300 than planned. What I can best compare what I'm thinking of doing to is CleanSC's car, where he fixed up EVERYTHING possible. I don't think I'm going to want to spend all of the money at once... but I am going to get a few estimates on some work just to see if I can pull it off. Just to give you guys some idea about what I'm thinking... Origin kit, repaint in a newer Lexus OEM color, black leather interior. My main concern is getting the money back out of the car when i go to sell it in a couple of years. I've never EVER lost money selling a car, and I don't want to lose money here either. If I decide I can get the quality of work done, at a price that will allow me to sell the car at a profit in a year or two, I will definately be dropping some cash into the car this year.
On a side note, I want to use only OEM Lexus leather on the interior. I was just planning on using black leather out of a 95+ SC300. However, does anyone have any better suggestions? Do the newer LS's, for example, have better leather than the SCs? (obviously figuring that all leather will be brand new when installed, lol)

cars are nothing but depreciating assets. the more money you spend, the more your gonna lose. just mod it and have fun with it. when it comes time to selling it i doubt your gonna get all the money you spent on the car back

Now, I'm considering the choices of upgrading to a single turbo setup on the 1JZ, but also considering a full black interior conversion (at which time I would probably have enough left over for 95 tails and HIDs!). What would you guys do?
The interior is a little beat... I would really like to make it nice. The 1JZ is also begging for power (not finished yet but will be this week!) , and at the same time I'd love an Origin kit or 97+ conversion.

Unless you bought the car for $3,000, you're probably going to lose money no matter what you do.
Let's see a running total of how much you've "invested" into the car and we'll compare that to what you sell it for.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Don't worry, there are too many ways to spend your hard earned money here and the good folks here at Club Lexus are more than willing to help!
I'm going to drop $700 on new leathers for my SC and so should you.
The group buy is ending next week.
Haha yeah I know it's a bit of a stretch... but when you find a 5spd SC300 for 3800, and a 1JZGTE swap complete for $1000, it gives some room to spend money on other things and not lose much. To be honest, I think I can do everything I want for under 10,000 total invested in the project including the car... but that will probably be the last I talk about how much I am spending in case I do sell it in the future for profit lol. (I have a lot of connections for interior / mechanic work / exterior, and I do as much as I possibly can myself... I also shop for deals like it's my job)
I've been obsessed with planning this car for the past few days, and keep thinking of new ideas.... I can't wait to get it back from getting the engien swapped so I can drive it around and go get some estimates lol.

That was pure luck. The day I got my car, after a 7 hour drive back home, I went up to the local car show / races. A guy came up and was commenting on how nice the car was, and asked me if I wanted to boost it... and said he had a full 1JZGTE swap in his garage. He had purchased it for his Supra, but I guess he did not want to deal with the differences in the motors, and he ended up buying a full front clip of a Supra with a 1J.
The motor was going to be my first mod anyway, since I had bought the car for the sole purpose of swapping it. I thought it might be too good to be true, so I asked around, and it turned out the guy was a very reputable seller, and we had several friends in common.
He wanted 1500, but I talked him down to $1000 delivered to my door. The only thing that was not included was an intercooler.. so I went with a nice frontmount, which was also purchased at a decent price from one of my friends that owns a shop.
We just ran a compression test on it and it was right where it needs to be, and the turbos seem brand new
