Hey everyone

I'm new to this forum. Basically the majority of my life I've always wanted an SC300. I'm still looking for one. I want a 5 spd manual and black exterior.

Anyway, I've read all the posts so far posted up and I enjoy each one because everyone is so damn friendly and helpful.

Aight my question. I've seen some people get Staggerd wheels or a staggerd look...whats that?
and I'm looking for an SC300 5 spd and i'm also lookin for some shoes. the thing that confuses me is the spacers...is it an advantage to get spacers or is there none? Does it increase handling or it basically for looks?

Thanks everybody
Peace

Welcome to ClubLexus!

Staggered wheels are wider in the back than the front. Some cars (Supra TT for example) come from the factory that way.

Advantages - better traction in the back w/ wider tire and contact patch. Looks better in rear as wheel fills up the gap in the wheelwell better. Bigger lip on wheels with lips.

Disadvantages - you can't rotate tires

Spacers in general are thought of as 'bad', especially up front where it can impact steering in a number of ways.. But a small spacer doesn't have much impact and I haven't seen any negative posts from using spacers in the back to push wheels outward (also to fill wheel gap / better align outer edge of wheels with body of car)

hey thanx so much

Oh... i def. want to get Staggerd wheels because it looks MADD good. hahaha

Do you know of any good wheels that will flow with the lines of the car. I know I definatley wanto get the Wald body kit from Japan. Will black rims with a chrome ring on the outside look good with the car. I wish I could see how the wheels would look on the car before I bought the rims

There are LOTS of options and they've been discussed so much it wouldn't be practical to start a new thread on it. Suggest you try to search for these threads, many of them recent about wheels that look good and wheels that have black centers. Look both here and in the Tire Rack wheels and tires forum.

Here is a good thread to get you started searching with examples how to do it

all the rims designed to fit the Supra fit the SC3/4 directly. If they require fender rolling or modification on the MKIV, they will on the SC as well.

Check with the gallery up at the top of the site -- you should find well over 100 pages of pictures just of the SC... that should keep you busy for quite some time

If you buy the correct offset wheels, you will not need to run spacers.

Uhhh, 'those guys' = ClubLexus members like you and me

The Tire Rack WHeels and tires forum is just another sub-forum on ClubLexus dedicated to (guess what) wheels and tires.

Try scrolling down sometime, there's lots more on CL that you might not have seen

Edit, nevermind seems like you've already used that forum with some success.

If your new, you may not have seen the Photoshop forum. You can request a chop and someone will take seperate pictures of the rims and car and put them together to give you an idea of the look.

I'd do it right now but I'm at work. It would help if you have the pictures ready like a Wald SC in hte color you want, and a picture of the rims (preferably mounted on some car).

Yes, I am fully aware of that.. I was refering to Tire Rack in general, but that forum applies aswell. I have visited that forum, and the guys representing tire rack are ignorant especially when it comes to FITMENT. Something you would think they should know pretty damn well, since they do specialize in wheels/tires.

Some sucess is questionable, at the time.. the only person running an offset that was actually flush with the fenders was carlos from Japan, the tire rack guys said it wouldn't fit...

like he said tire rack doesnt have a clue...well let me rephrase that.
They sell cookie cutter wheels. With weak offsets/disks ect. If you want a set of proper fitting wheels dont buy tire rack. When the time comes just start a thread and myself, JZZ30TT or mongol. I know there are others on here as well. But its about time people get the correct offsets on wheels if they are going to lay down some cash, none of this +30's tire rack crap.

Aggresive fitting wheels make or break the look of the car.
Once my wheels come in I will have pictures of properly fitting wheels and the same style rim with (cookie cutter) tire rack fitment. The difference will blow you away.

I totally agree with you personally, but members should know the differences in styles and fittments and make their own decisions. No one fittment is 'the right answer' for everyone. Some people like to play it safe and have no rubbing and not have to bang out their wheel well or roll fenders. Others want a very aggressive stance that lines up perfectly with the car or tucks. Many want it right in between the two extremes.

Same thoughts as above... what you think 'fits' isn't for everyone. Even Carlos said he had lots of rubbing and had to beat the inner wheelwell in to get them on.

My point is - there's plenty of room for both the 'safe' and the 'extreme', they're just choices and neither is the right answer for everyone. We just need to point out the options, pros and cons and let folks make up their own mind.

Just asking that members be open minded to opinions other than their own. As a business if tire rack sold a bunch of wheels that rubbed badly and told people off the street that didn't know it was OK to do it, 'just take a hammer and beat in your wheel well' I suspect they would have a lot of returns, lol

OK, we've successfully derailed this topic with lots of help from myself (sorry). Back on topic

I argee with you aswell, although I do not think Tire Rack should tell people a wheel doesn't fit because the fenders will need to be rolled. They should tell the just that... to make this wheel fit fenders will need to be rolled. But the thing that gets under my skin is that they will tell you a wheel that requires no fender mods won't fit. (Something like a 10J +35 or something)... I had the conversation with them before trying to order some SP1's for a friend. We actually had to order the wheels for another car, since we were "allowed" to order a lower offset for that particular car. Anyways... sorry for that rant, I just think Tire Rack is misleading too many people into thinking what will and won't fit. Back on topic like you said.
