Arg!!!! Is a suspension settling like this normal?
Yesterday, I got my set of Supra TT wheels in, so I wasted no time in putting them on. When taking my old wheels off, one of the lug nuts locked up, and refused to budge either way, so off it came with a piece of one of my hub bolts
This is more just some advice for others with this probelm over anything else: I went to Toyota and picked up a stock Supra TT lug nut, and it went deep enough into the wheel that it caught plenty of the threading that I had left.Ok, now to the problem. On my way to the delaership today, I was getting some WIERD noises from my rear and i smelled burnt rubber very faintly, and when I got to Toyota I discovered that my rear driver side tire had been rubbing against the fender/quarter panel. Now, I do have 285/40 tires in the back, so it is a little larger then the standard 275/40. But the real issue is that the driver side rear sits considerably lower then the passenger side. Could this have happened due to my weight (about 215 punds) plus the weight of my system that is in the trunk? My Sub enclosure is RIGHT on top of the rear driver side wheel.
Im starting to wish I had coilovers
Could I posbbily contact Espelir and try and get a replacement spring? What else can I do without resulting to rolling the fender up some? I would like both sides to match. Thanks for any help!!!
i know you got that spring break money!!
But still, my suspension shouldnt do that, should it?
Well, I'll get the fender rolled I suppose. I'm assuming a body shop can do it fairly cheap?
Its very weird to have that problem with stock TT wheels though especially because the offset is not as aggressive as most other aftermarket wheels. I would first check to make sure that when you mounted the wheel, it was seated perfectly flush agains the hub.

also, standard for the TT wheel is 255, max is 275. How is the drive/look of the 285s? That extra 5mm on each side might be enough to put you into the rubbing region but even still, it does seem odd to have a stock wheel rub so bad. The JL subs are heavy but shouldnt be THAT heavy...i mean...driving around with a full load of passengers should make it rub by the same convention also, but even before i rolled my fenders with my 19s with a 37 offset with 275s it would ONLY rub over bumps or a rough road and never for long enough to ruin a tire and cause a burning smell. I would really check to make sure the shock isnt blown.

And this didnt just happen in a day. I'd noticed that side of the rear being lower before, but it just never rubbed with my 235's in the rear. It could very easily be the fact that they are 285 tires, so a little fender rolling and going to 275's later this summer should get me back to normal....
I'm consistently getting 183.7
