Default First post here

Hi folks, this is my first post here on clublexus, I'm definitly enjoying what the site has to offer so far. I just picked up about 3 weeks ago a 92 Maroonish? Lexus SC300 Auto. Has 174k miles on the clock, definitly needs some TLC, but its getting there. I just ordered new brakes for it, gonna get new tires and an alignment soon, need some interior parts as well, but overall I'm absolutely loving my car.

I had a 91 Ford Taurus SHO 5-speed that I definitly miss, in a straight line the SHO was faster or equal to my Lexus but around the corners it really shines, this is my first rear wheel drive car, and even driving in the snow and rain I haven't had any problems at all. The brakes are a major improvement, I had no clue the SC's have dual piston calipers in the front and even with the pads completely worn and grinding it stops way better than my SHO.

I hope I can learn alot from you guys and will take me in. Thanks, Daniel.

Cool thanks man, I had read all that info before once but definitly handy to have. I believe my power steering pump is leakin some, it's makin some noise at least and I had to put some fluid in it today. So all I need to replace is a seal for it? Is it pretty easy?

If it's just making noise when you turn, then you're low on fluid, but check for leaks just in case. And the SC300s have single piston calipers, not dual. Welcome to the board.

I think he was talking about the front brakes, which do have 2 pistons/caliper.

Hmm, I could swear I only saw one on each caliper when I changed my pads last week =/

lol w-w-wrong, they're 2 piston up front, 1 in rear. ANd I see that you need to change your pads badly, search for a thread I made in the Maintenacne forum for a complete writeup on how to change your pads on the SC

PS. SHO's are badass!!

Heh. I remember my first time getting smoked by a Taurus.
You should have seen me. I had to pick up my jaw off the floor-mat.
It was only then that I read about the SHO.

Haha yea I miss my SHO badly, but the SC is a much nicer upgrade plus has much more power potential and better aftermarket. Maybe someday I will have another SHO, right now it's impractical though. Oh and as for my brakes, they are getting replaced Friday, along with an alignment all around plus I just got new tires today. The power steering pump is still making noise though, any reccomendations on what to do about it? Thanks a ton guys, peace.
