Default To replace plastic vent covers or not?

I know from searching and reading the FAQ, that it's common for the plastic around the A/C vents to crack...

but

1. How hard is it to replace the center and passenger plastic vent surrounds?

2. Is it worth replacing? Cost/labor/how long will it take to crack again?

I've heard its fairly expensive. I have a VERY small crack in my passenger vent myself which is barely noticable but a blemish none the less. I forgot how much it costs, but to me its not worth it.

I figured I'd wait till another forum member total's his car, since I'm sure those pieces won't get damaged, just not sure what's involved in replacing them.

Plastic vents will break eventually in the long run. So i find no point in buying new ones..

I cant even notice unless I stare really hard and long at the vents. People who ride in my car couldnt care less about a crack in the vent (much less notice one). I'd say this isnt worth fixing unless you absolutely are disgusted by small cracks in plastic.

I took mine out, superglued the plastic and reinforced the back. Sanded it down, repainted it, and finished it to factory perfect.

It cracked again 2 weeks later. I'm not fixing it again.

Only cheap alternative is to buy one of those cover-up dash kits, but brushed aluminum vents or carbon fiber vents in a tan interior may look goofy. If you're lucky enough to have a black interior you have so many more options.

I'm sure it crosses most people's mind's, probably not always best to act on it though. I normally wait for someone to say they're selling their parts or giving them away. Asking someone for parts who just crashed their car may not get the response you're after
