Default Conversion to Twin Turbo Spring Shock?

Has any one converted their SC 300/400 shock and springs to twin turbo OEM shock & springs?

Please post pictures and advise of both ride quality compared to stock and specific drop in the front and rear..

Thanks for your response

This will probably be moved to the "Suspension Forum" and then you'll be told a million times to search. Just a heads up.

Just off the top of my head, I don't believe anyone has done that with OEM spring/struts. It can be done though. Most upgrade to the Tokicos and Eibachs for the Supra for the additional drop.

you do know that your suspension will be stiffer and more harsh than stock....if you move to the supra TT setup!

Several owners have done this; good deal for the $ IMO.
A factory engineered setup has it's benefits I've found after 20 some years of hacking cars w/ aftermarket junk.
The height is around 5/8" lower, maybe 3/4" in the rear, (no stuffing front body parts on curbs), ride is firmer of course, but the original SC didn't ride all that special to begin with, most of the ride difference is in the shocks, the springs aren't much more than 15% stiffer in the rear, could be the same as SC in front but I'm not positive.
You should plan on getting the TT rear swaybar, and the mounts since that's part of the package, front bar is the same according to interchange books.
I found mine over on www.supraforums.com used, shipped for $150, works great.

I'm running the TT shock/spring combo. It's cool. I did it mostly to get the drop. I didn't notice a huge improvment, but for 100 bucks it's got great bang-for-the-buck...

Like SCV8 said. get the rear bar also.

I'm going to install KONI/eibach setup as soon as I get new LCA's, if I were you I'd go straight to a Stock Supra spring/Koni setup or something similar. Eibach may be too low, so if it is i'm going to switch the oem supra springs in their place.

Lots of other members have great results with a basic coilover setup. Too rich my blood though, I stick to best gains for least amount of $ spent.

What is ride quality you are refering to?

If you are building sport car you WILL "sacrifice", that is the way.
You will move to the havier wheels, lower profile tires, stiffer springs and such. This is a time for you to make your mind what do you want, before you spend money.

I have TTsetup together with 18inch 40series runflat tires. It runs rough but handles great at high speed at the same time, like riding on rails.
I would recomand it to anybody who want sporty ride....

Now, stiffer rear sway bar I do not know. Definitly for somebody with driving skill level able to acommodate more easly drifting rear end....

Yeah exactly what do you want out of the car? The car will always be heavy and quiet adding to the luxury feel. Stiffer springs don't make the car ride worse per se. I have a buddy who put really really stiff springs on his supra. Like 1200 pound linear springs in the front. and 9or10K in the rear on revalved HKS coilovers. The car still rode pretty decent. You feel the car in conact with the road more and less floating. If you do driving where the g's excede .5g then you'll probably want a sportier spring/shock combo. I would say this is in the sporty range of driving. If you just pimp the SC around, and drive casually then I wouldn't upgrade.

My point is, do you want a sporting car or a cadilliac? I prefer a more neutrally balanced ride, staggered tire setup(which adds to the rougher ride, but puts your brain more in tune with what the car is doing). If you want the car to be a cadilac, forget upgrading. But personally I feel the stock shocks are hella weak. If you want a more sporty ride, the TT supra spring/shock will give you a great stance and similar shock stiffness , just slightly stiffer.

My thought is this. We all bought a luxury ride for a reason (the luxury) If im to sacarifice ride quality i would rather have the car drop closer to 2inch rather then the .5 that the TT gives...

Please continue to give your input

I think you need an air suspension w/onboard pumps for adjustments, don't know what to say about wheel alignments though...

I drive my car at 70-80 for over 70 miles each day, that's why chose the TT stuff(why I chose the SC to begin with), pretty easy to live with, yet still handles very well, does ride worse around town. The long wheelbase of the car helps the ride not to be so easily affected by stiffer suspension compared to smaller cars.

Nope, just a bolt on, re-alignment.

If the springs are already installed on the shocks/struts, you wont need the compressor.
