Angry TRD Steering Wheels....

** OFF ROAD or SHOW CAR use ONLY, air bag deployment will not occur on impact, not suitable for street**

Whats the scoop?? That quote above is taken directly from the website on Itunedparts.com....
I was planning on TRD steering wheels BECAUSE the airbag would deploy...lol
Anyone have an answer...

BTW...As a member of supraforums this is discussed with no reolution.. I guess know one has crashed with the airbag to know..

i believe its because the airbag isnt US spec or rated in the US as original equipment. As per a thread i read on supraforums a long time ago, it should work, but again, because its not original equipment, toyota throws that on just to cover themselves

I thought it was more legal manuevering rather than fact... but it is startling to read that it will NOT deploy on impact...
Funny.....I was thinking strictly looks until I thought about my wife or son driving my sc300 and God forbid ...accident... and no airbag.. With me its fine--- Them not fine..
After using a little discernment I sold a non airbag JDM and MOMO wheel for the purpose of buying an aftermarket wheel w/airbag...
Cost is not an issue but an airbag is..

There are many nice stock Toyota/Lexus wheels that will work just fine with providing the security of an airbag....

Of course, there's never the gaurantee that the airbag you put in will work. So in that case, I wouldn't be swapping airbags in cars that others would drive. God forbid anything happens and the airbag does NOT go off, it would make you look REAL bad because you put it in because it "looks" better (which no one else would ever understand anyway) and now a loved one is hurt or lost...

If others are driving the car, I'd be really careful with this one. Of course it most likely will work but some things you may not want to gamble on...

In my case it's just my ugly mug behind that bag so I swapped the chrome emblem 3-spoke dealie in and never looked back. I'm assuming it will work fine but no one really knows until the inthinkable happens...

Just something to consider, not trying to hex you.

yea, just get the Supra steering wheel...

I think the TRD is too race oriented for our cars.
