Default Overdrive??

When is my overdrive on and off........I'm getting thrown off because when my instrument panel says O/D Off (..is it off or on??) Stupid question but I'd appreciate any comfirmation!!! Thanks!!!

Your overdrive is on when the light is NOT on. Your overdrive is off if your light is on.

The display doesn't lie. Off means off. Button clicked in means O/D on. Off makes 4th gear a 1:1 ratio.

and also know that you cant go faster than 85 mph with the overdrive off...

You sure about this? My trap speed is higher than 85 mph in the 1/4 with OD off (around 90 or 92 mph).

overdrive just acts as another gear. with it off, the max you can go is 120mph.

are you guys in sc300's or sc400's?...cause my sc400 wont go faster than 85 maybe 90...

i'm in a 95 SC4.... i notice that redline in each gear goes 40mph.........
1st gear 40mph
2nd gear 80mph
3rd gear 120mph
4th gear 160+ mph ( yea i tested it and it was stupid of me but i just got the car and i was 18; i actually stopped at 160 but it could have gone more, the tach was only at about 5300)

ok turn off the "Overdrive" and see what happens...

actually i have.... when i race on the freeway, i turn off overdrive.... and i usually hit up to 120 like always...... always race to that point anyways

ok im gonna have to try this, this weekend...and see if you might be right but i thought that there was a limit that was below 100mph...

Maybe if you hold it at 6000 RPMs for miles and miles, but taking your car to the top of each gear every now and again isn't gonna screw it. So no, every now and then turning off O/D and going near 120 won't hurt the tranny.

ok i tried getting her up to 120 but alot of traffic..i got her up to 100 though...at 90 shes at 3000 rpms..so i suppose you are right...the max maybe 120..ill have to wait till this weekend at about 3:00 am..
