Question

I am thinking about doing the the Eibach + Tokico
1.25" drop. Can some of the guys who have done this give me the pro's and con's of this mod. Looks, ride, handleing, was it worth it?

Default Drop.

Hey Chad I just ordered the Eibach springs and Tokico shocks on Friday. They should be in by the end of the week. I believe the Eibach Pro - Kit is only .75 - 1 inch drop. I bought them from shox.com they seem to have the best price. I'll let you know how it works out.

BTW- I have a 94 sc400

LOVE MY EIBACHS...i got GAB shocks though and they are adjustable so they are stiffer. drop is a good height. its not too low so you can't get into driveways but lower so it hugs your rims better. email me if you have any questions

If so could you post or email me privately: bhail@yahoo.com

Anyone know if the GABs are the same as the KYB adjustables?

I was looking at the KYB AGX and want to keep the ride at stock softness for trips and firmer for rallying, drag racing--(who me?), and aggressive driving.

I've not heard of the GABs for the SC any idea where to get info?

Thanks.

how does the ride compare to stock? How many adjustment positions?

I'd like to be able to go from stock firmness or even slightly softer than stock to a really firm auto cross firmness.

ive had the eibach/tokico setup on my car before, drop was decent, ride was just a little stiffer than stock, since then ive switched to TEIN HA coilovers and i LOVE them =)

Default Eibach/Tokito to Tein HA's

I had the eibach/tokico setup initially and it was
an improvement on the stock setup, but it was not
what I liked.

I wasn't adjustable, and wasn't handling well enough to warrant the harsh ride.
The setup is about 6 hundred for the whole thing...and you basically get wut you pay for.

They are decent, but not great.
Also, since theya re gas shocks..the tokicos have been known to wear out premturely.

The Tein Ha coilovers are my suspension right now and they are 10 times better.
Of course you pay twice as much as the tokico/eibach's..but it's worth it.

I have my suspension lower in the front than the rear..giveing the car a meaner look and stance.
The stiffness of the shocks is also adjustable..which makes in perfect for switching between street and race settings. I put it right in the middle, because I don't mind a slightly harsh ride for the superior handling.

Haven't heard much about the GAB coilovers...but I have yet to see any for the SC cars outpeform the Tein Ha's.

If I were you. I'd save some money and get the Tein's. Ask anyone who has em in the SC or GS forum and they'll swear by them.

I had my Eibach springs and Tokico shocks installed recently. It would drop about 1".
For some reasons with the Tokico shocks the drop is less than that of factory shocks. I guess it's the new shocks.
Looks: lower. Plus
Ride: firmer. More road noise. Minus.
Handling: better. Plus
Cost: $800-900 installed.

With the new setup you get improved handling, lower ride at the price of a stiffer ride. If you like the velvet "luxury" ride of the Lexus I wouldn't do this because the Sc400 is already a very capable car.
In my experience it wasn't worth it.

Default RE: DROP

I too have the tokico, EB setup. Running 18's with 245/45 in all 4. I must say its a love hate situation. I love the way it corners, meaning the back end does not let loose. But I hate the ride. The ride is stiff and produces lots of road noise. I'm using Bridgestone Re730's, so that might be a big factor cause other people have complained about road noise with the re730. Also the I don't like the way back seems to look lower than the front. IF I had the chance to do it again. Don't take the cheap way out, spend the extra money on Tein Coil overs. Good luck

Thanks to everyone who responded. Your advise is greatly appreciated. I will go with the Tein ha coilovers. This is a mod that I only want to do once!
