Angry Door Handle Problems

Went to get in my 95 SC400 yesterday and found that the linkage from the driver's side exterior door handle to the door latch is broken. It looks like plastic piece holding the linkage to the handle broke . Anyone have this problem? If so, what's involved in fixing it?

you have to buy the threaded plastic linkage.

I had that problem with my passenger side door handle last year. You'll have to buy the part from Lexus ($6 or so if I remember correctly, something super cheap, yet THEY wanted almost $200 to fix it...no thanks jerk-offs). Once you get the part then the hard part begins, you have to remove the door panel and feel around for where the part clips onto, I had a friend feel around and do mine because I couldn't get my arm in there. Took him like 20 minutes or scratching around before he found the spot, then he snapped it in and reconnected everything...voila! Sorry I don't have more detailed info but you get the gist of it. The part that's broken looks like a little piece of plactic nothing, it's really small and I believe Lexus calls it an "interior door clip"...

It's funny how this thread surfaced today.....I just had a customer in today for a passenger door handle clip repaired for $244.00 w/ labor....can you say Rape? I've had my passenger door handle clip broken for about a year now.....lol......I'm just gonna wait until I get a new passenger window regulator and new inside door panels...

Until then, I'm gonna have to open the doors for my passengers(Like I have any anyway).....

Thanks for all the responses. I got the part from the local dealer for about $2.75. Since I have so much experience taking the door panel off (thanks to my broken window regulator), I was able to get the whole thing done in about 10 minutes. Not nearly as painful as I thought it would be.

Part number is 69293-12040 (SNAP, DOOR OUTSIDE)
I don't know if the passenger side is the same part number or not. It would seem to me that it would be a mirror image, but the same part might work. If you're getting it from a Lexus dealer, they'll know what you're talking about. I didn't even complete my sentence describing the problem before the parts guy said "oh yeah, the little plastic clip" and went off to get it without even looking it up on the computer. He even told me the price including tax before he went for it. Total price including tax was $2.78.
Hope this helps.
