headrest button problem - leather kit related?
Hello all,
I installed the leather kit and have asked a couple others about this problem and none of them seem to have the answer. I removed the headrest button to install the leather but when I tried to reinstall the button, I can't get the headrest button to work the way it did before. The springs are properly mounted and everything. Any help?
Thanks guys.

I just finished doing my drivers seat. It was a b**ch! Anyways, when i took the seat apart, all I had removed was the button itself, didn't mess with the springs or anything else. If you had taken apart the assembly and what not, then this may not apply to you, and you might have a different problem than I did. After I had put everything back together and got to the part of putting the headrest button back into place, it took me a couple of tries to get the button directly aligned into the hole it's supposed to be in. Previous tries the button was not in correctly and it wouldn't work right when raising or lowering the headrest. Once it was in straight, perfect. Hope this helps.
I'm SURE that the springs on my button were aligned because I *slightly* glued the springs to the button before I put everything together, assuring myself that the springs would be perfectly placed.

Hey Siniquezu,
I did the same thing on my headrest during the leather swap. I accidently forced the unit out of the little plastic stem housing. I got everything back in place (including spirngs) but the unit no longer held the tension, meaning the little metal clip inside the hole would not stick out far enough into the pipe opening to catch the headrest when being raised or lowered.
Appears there is a little metal rod (size of a paper clip) that helps align and hold the sliding plastic mechanism in its proper place. I am thinking when I forced out the button and the slide piece it caused the little metal rod to bend or pop out of place.
So far I have not found out a way fix that little metal piece. Probably have to buy a new piece.
Hope that helps.

Hey Siniquezu,
I ordered a new one for my car, part number is 71930-24010-A2 (Ivory Interior trim). Depending on what dealership you order from looks like the part will run you anywhere from $16-$23.
Better order quick there are only 2 of these pieces available in the nation, well actually one after I get mine. The main parts distribution center in Ontario, CA (NAPCC) currently carries the two, any dealer can order them for you, just a few days until they get them from the main parts center. After the two sell, the part will go on back order from Japan, that could take a very long time to get another.
This part should solve the problem (I hope).
Thanks

Ok, found the problem. Thanks LexusBiz. $11 from Steve at Carson.
Looks kinda kinky but here is the problem, the button itself is broken.
