Along these same lines....I'm looking to purchase my first Lexus SC 300 or 400 either a 97, 98 or 99 depending on color, mileage & price.

I called my insurance to ask approx what it would cost me to insure a 2nd car for pleasure, ( I have a clean driving record & I'm over 30 yrs old) I currently pay around $1,300.00 for insurance a year on my current car, a 99 BMW, they told me to insure a 2nd car it would cost me another $1,000.00 a year. That would be $2,300.00 a year for both cars.

As bad as want a Lexus coupe, don't think I can afford the insurance on 2 cars.

How are you guys doing it? There must be some guys here that have 2 cars???

3 things.... maybe buy a beater car and use the multi-car discount...then also tie in your homeowners insurance with it...ask for the sam's club discounts! There are a million ways to save on insurance..trust me there are some good threads on this....

A student here pays over $6k a year for full coverage even for a vehicle that's worth only $10K. A good student will get a discount.

Location has a lot to do with the cost of car insurance.

When I lived in Wichita, KS, I paid $1000 per year. When I moved to Houston, TX, the cost went up to $1800 per year (with the exact same coverage).

I am 24, have a 92 SC300, had full coverage with $250 deductibles, good student discount, a few other discounts and NO accidents/claims.

My driving record isn't the greatest right now, but all my tickets & accident will be off of it in July. I have 2 cars & I pay $1908/year on my daily driver & $550/year for the SC.

I just turned 29 and I KNOW I'm getting ripped off in insurance, but I live in L.A. and there's a ton of crazy drivers here as well as uninsured motorists. I was paying $2340 a year but now I pay a little over $2k a year. I used to ***** and moan about it for the longest, especially since I haven't been in an accident in over 7 years (thank goodness) and I only have 1 ticket on my record currently, but now I just pay it...like everything else seems to boil down to...ju$t pay...

I'm 19... when i was 16, I totalled my 97 prelude in a race... 1 speeding ticket and 1 failure to yield to pedestrians ticket.. (i swear i didn't see him).... with that record.. when i was 17 with my first sc3.. my insurance was almost $2100 a year... now, on my 2nd sc, my insurance is under my dad's name that I pay for and its only about $1100 a year.

I'm in california.
Red 96 SC300
Am lucky to be on my parents policy which has 4 cars.
Even so, I can not afford full coverage and am paying about $800-900/year for liability
I have 1 point on my record.

I'm 23, no accidents, a few tickets.

I pay $2500 a year for two cars, liability only. NJ has the highest rates in the nation, so there is really nothing I can do.
