Default Rear Differential Leaking?

I just got my '92 SC300 5-speed back from an oil change/inspection service, and the mechanic made the notation "rear diff leaking" on the form. The guy at the counter said that was a bit vague, and he didn't know enough about my specific car to guess exactly what might be leaking.

Are there parts or seals that could be replaced that might fix this? Would the entire rear differential need to be replaced??? I can afford to do this if required but I would prefer not to. Before I take the car to my Toyota specialist I thought I would ask here to see if anyone knows anything useful about this particular issue.

I was not able to find any info in the forum search or the library. The car has 149,744 miles and to my knowledge has not had the rear differential replaced (I'm the 3rd owner). Thanks.

When I changed the oil in my diff, it was so dirty it certainly looked as if it was leaking, but that was just 10 years of acculmulation. I knew it wasn't leaking because there were no oil drops in my usual parking spots. So that's the first thing I'd check.
