Default Rear diff axle oil leak

hi, I have oil leaking from the rear 'pumpkin' to the right drive shaft connection. Looks like the seal is gone.. is there a DIY of replacing the seal? I have searched in the RX section but no luck... anyone done it before? Thanks..

I recently had this done on the drivers' side, although I wasn't present as my trustworthy mechanic did the job, although he did mention fortunately the parts & bolts he had to remove weren't rusted out therefore the job was easier than most.
This is the best I can do to help, note: these diagrams refer to a 05 RX330 AWD...

Thanks for the pictures. Found some discussions about a diy repair here for mk1 but the guy can't seems to release the retaining ring within the diff. Anyone done this? Is the mk1 diff exactly the same as mk2?

All, my leak is getting worse at the half axle shaft to the diff. I will try and replace this. Can any confirm that the axle end at the diff is a pull out removal? I assume it's just prying it out? Anyone done this or know another Lexus model that has similar axle connection? Thanks in advance..

All after few hours on the driveway I strip the rear axle out. But I struggle to get the leaky seal out. The end of my hammer is too big. Anyone has any suggestions??
So near yet so far.. any one use other tools? Is it just prying force?

You should try to pry it out with a big flat screwdriver or a tyre lever... then you could use the old seal for tapping the new one in without damaging it .

Thanks. Got the old seal out with a mini crowbar...

new seal in, not easy to tap in with the old seal as it's a bit bent. Ended up using one of my bearing press ring.
