Automatic trunk pop with auto open
UPDATE: I got the Amazon A-premium lift supports and installed them but they do NOT auto-lift my trunk.
After popping the trunk (by dash switch or key fob) they do however push the trunk ajar so I can at least tell it can now be opened by hand. Once you pull the trunk up a bit the hydraulic lifters do the rest and THEN auto opens it the rest of the way. Still better than before when popping the trunk you could only go by the sound otherwise you couldn't tell it was even unlocked.
Now let's see how long these will lasts. Will update in about a year's time.

I've had the same thing happen to me. Worked as a pop up for the first 2 - 3 weeks and then stopped and now it only clicks open and i have to nudge it up a bit for it to go up. Personally I don't mind that at all but I'm glad the spring thing exists if i decide to have the auto open function at some point
The part # in the video (pm1057-pr) says it's for SC's -- my first guess was he got something spec'd for a much heavier trunk or hatch -- but something doesn't seem right there. I have to think the trunk would be really difficult to close if it has that much more initial "spring" than normal. The video ends without showing that...
I ordered the part number in the video and Amazon says it's for trunk with spoiler, and I don't have a spoiler yet, but I don't think that piece of fiberglass would make much of a difference compared to the weight of the trunk lid. I'll find out soon, with and without spoiler because I definitely want one when I get a round tuit.
I second the choice of Strongarm struts...they pop the lid up marginally and from there you must use a hand. Haven't had these fail on me on my last 2 SCs...
(and YES, the weight of the spoiler makes a difference so select accordingly).

I recently replaced my worn out Strong Arm struts (which lasted over 10 years) with these:

I do not have a spoiler and these are so far very powerful and almost pop the trunk up when the latch is released. Pushing trunk lid to close is a chore. Will see how long they last….

Ironically, my trunk struts kicked the bucket and got replaced last month by some Strong Arms. (I don't recall what brand the previous ones were.) Two things I don't much like about them: 1) Lifting the lid the first half of its travel is easy, then the resistance of the struts kicks in and you either have to wait for it to slowly raise the rest of the way, or put some force into it. 2) Shutting the lid requires quite a bit of effort. I can no longer do so with just a light press on the rear of the lid. I have to reach over the top and press down on the spoiler to have enough leverage.
None of my previous trunk struts have been like either of those qualities. That leads me to believe the Strong Arms will hold up a lot better, but be much more annoying to live with up until they die. If I were to do it over, I would buy cheaper ones and just replace them more often.
Even with how much force the Strong Arms require to close the lid, they don't pop it up any more than normal when hitting the trunk release. Maybe they would without a spoiler, but I have a hard time believing any struts would do so with a spoiler.
