Default Closing trunk

Is it just my 4GS or is the trunk very hard to close? I literraly have to SLAM it very hard otherwise it will just pop back up. I'm in the U.S so we don't have the auto trunk

It has had its closing issues with me, too. It's hard to close sometimes.

That's exactly why they should have added the simple auto-open/close feature.

Can we file a lemon law for this problem? I'm sure we will get some attention from Lexus after several 4GS buy back.

It just doesn't make any sense for US 4GS without power trunk. I wonder what people will do if they found the 4LS have no power trunk too?

I don't see any problems closing my trunk. How are you guys closing it? Are you guys using the handle in the trunk or just using the top of the trunk?

I think those of us with the F-Sport and the rear spoiler have an easier time closing the truck due to the extra weight. Also, it doesn't pop up when opened, it just pops open about 1/2 an inch. That said, I still of course agree, it should have had the power close feature, not to mention the power folding mirror feature as well. Oh well, I'll still take those tradeoffs for the lighter chasis and increased performance over the previous generations.

Please tell me you are joking? Lemon law? Because you can't close your "soft close" trunk? ... what is going on here! yes its a pain but its not difficult to give a tad more force to close the trunk!

I have to try and reclose 50% of the time myself. I haven't looked, but I wonder if there are any sort of screw-in rubber bumpers on the trunk lid that can be turned in to reduce the necessary closure force?

Doesn't anyone use the handle inside the trunk to pull it down? I do and haven't had any issues closing the trunk. I have the F-Sport spoiler.

My trunk lid is difficult to close. It requires a firm slam to engage the trunk lid's latching mechanism. I do not have a spoiler installed. I believe the trunk lid's low weight, combined with excessive opening tension (likely to handle the extra weight of the F Sport trim level's spoiler), is the cause of this.

Perhaps Lexus's manual closing solution is under-engineered since most markets receive GS models which include a power closing mechanism.

I usually close my trunk using 3 fingers using the ledge underneath the license plate. Haven't had any problems yet.
