Default Auto locking trunk

--

When I first got my used 2015 IS350c, and were to close the trunk, it would make a slight whirring sound and seem to tighten up. Doesn't do it any more. What happened? Is it important?

What do you hear and see when you release the luggage door (trunk) with the mechanical key
from the key fob? Insert it into the cylinder near the license plate and twist. Does it release and
re-latch OK? Does the entire power retracting roof operate properly?

I don't understand. I don't use the mechanical key to open the trunk, only the fob or the dash button. The trunk works okay, it just doesn't have that "secure latch" sound at the end as if it were tightening down a little more than just being closed from slamming it closed.

The roof is fine. I did take it to a dealer when it wouldn't open once when the trunk wouldn't unlock with the buttons. I had jammed my luggage suitcase inside and it was pressing up on the top of the trunk. I suppose the top wouldn't operate because it thought the trunk wasn't closed right. I don't know how the dealer opened the trunk. Maybe they just used the mechanical key??? I didn't think of doing that at the time.

Recommending the use of the mechanical key only as a test of the mechanism. The button triggers
a solenoid to release the luggage door, using the key would test the system without the electronics.
