5% on sides and back, 35% on front shield. Like having sunglasses on during the day but at night pretty much just takes glare off of other cars headlights

Thanks! I do love it.

I decided to take some time and start messing with the 1J today, took the transmission and wiring harness off, cleaned out the spark plug valley cause it was diiiirty. Need to make room on an engine stand so I can delve into it more. Purchased a full overhaul gasket kit for it as well today

So I lost reverse gear in the car this morning somehow? I noticed yesterday that it was a bit difficult to get the car to go into reverse, and then this morning I went to back into my spot at work and definitely do not have reverse gear anymore. When you put the shifter all the way over and down it goes into 4th not reverse. Tried shifting through all the gears dozens of times and it just doesn't go into a reverse gear anymore. I have billet tripod bushings and a Cube short shifter already in the car so I don't believe it's worn out bushings. It's just like reverse gear no longer exists. Anyone had this issue??? Need to get this resolved ASAP.

Is there any adjustment in that cube shifter? I've heard some stories about guys having issues getting into gears with short shifters, however, they don't seem too common here on the site so maybe someone will come out of the woodwork with a little bit of insight...

Not from what I can see. I had it out when I did the tripod bushings and everything looked pretty good in it, though I noticed the shifter linkage that comes out of the transmission itself had quite a bit of play in it? But figured since it was shifting fine it should be okay. Maybe the bushings in there finally went and it just doesn't have the throw (though it feels like enough in the shifter itself) to engage reverse.

Update, linkage under the car had come loose, tightened it up and all is well in the world! Luckily it was something super simple!!!

So i got to starting my audio install…i paint matched the LRB door cards, got my stereo and front component door speakers installed along with a 5 channel amp in the trunk, but when I got to the rear setup I ran into a roadblock. I wasn’t advised by Crutchfield that I’d need to make a bracket to install any aftermarket sub in the car. I had opted for an 8” because I thought that’s what the car had originally. It has a 10” sub so now I need to fabricate something. I ordered some 12”x12” ABS plastic sheets so I’ll figure something out. I also ordered some speaker adapters for the 6.5’s in the rear deck off Amazon. We’ll see how they fit! Happy to have functional CarPlay in the car though.

My sunroof motor also seems to have seen its last day so I ordered another on ebay.

I also ordered a turbo manifold for the 1J, and got the engine mounted on a stand at the shop. Going to do a compression test on it soon.

Hopefully it’s all good, but it fails the compression test I’ll be removing the head and planning on doing a 1.5jz utilizing the 2JZ bottom end since I have a non-VVTi 2JZ-GE in the car now and they’re much stronger than the VVTi GE motors

Lookin good - I'm loving how you matched the interior color so well to those door panels. Also can't wait to see the 1J come together!

Thanks! I am happy with how they turned out too. My fiancι said she's not a fan of the finish on them, which has me thinking. I may either wrap them maybe even wrap them in a thin tan leather if I can find one that would adhere to the panels properly and look decent. But for now it's good

A vinyl/leather wrap would be quite the touch! I love that idea. Regardless, I'm loving the progress and hope you're enjoying this bad boy!

I definitely am!

Finally got around to doing my rear speakers and sub. Had to make a bracket out of ABS plastic to mount the sub since I went with an 8” - I’m no bass head but appreciate a bump, sounds much better than the stock system.

Luckily found someone on Amazon selling rear 6.5” adapter brackets for SC’s which worked perfectly. Now I have 6.5’s in the rear and also in the doors along with the sub, running off a 5 channel amp in the trunk.
Now I just need to make a new rear deck pad because mine basically disintegrated when I removed it lol

Otherwise I’ve just been driving it and dealing with my HIC roof wing coming off multiple times. It doesn’t match the curvature of the rear windshield so the corners pull up…. Very annoyed with that and HIC has been no help.
