That's just the icing on the cake. Knowing that you could take out or keep up with high priced sports cars and seeing the looks on their faces is priceless. Why not?

Nevermind...

It still looks very much FWD with that overhang. Even the EV platform Toyota/Lexus are using is oriented for FWD since the single motor models of the bZ4X are FWD, while others like the Mach E/ID4/Ioniq 5 are all RWD in single motor form.

Right now I have no idea if this will be RX or NX-sized. The photos make it look the same size as the bZ4X but all the specs of the concept model were that of a much bigger car.

It will be right in between the NX and RX.

.
Mach E/ID4 and Ioniq 5 all look odd and weird. This and BZ4X look better and a little more normal like a ICE type vehicle.

Based on what?

Looking FWD does not make it look "more normal."

I really like the front but am less enthused about the back end. Side profile is good. Something a bit bigger and with a third row would likely end up in my garage.

I don't really understand why any electric vehicle that is FWD needs to have the traditional FWD profile and overhang. They don't need room out in front of the wheels for a large gasoline engine hanging out there.

I suspect:
*S are sedans eg IS, ES, GS and LS.
*C are coupes eg RC, SC and LC.
*X are SUV's eg UX, NX and RX.
Hence *Z most likely to be SUV Coupes.

Meanwhile the R suggests midsize.

Thus RZ450e will be an SUV Coupe Midsize 450e BEV on eTNGA platform.

What's especially confusing about the RZ is that Akio drove a camouflaged version of it in the recent EV press event. Not only does the car look completely different (no sloping back), it's also significantly larger, easily RX if not GX size.

Is it possible that the RZ comes in both coupe and regular-SUV variants?

I suspect it's platform sharing. If it is and not a dedicated EV platform, don't expect great range.

Yes, that is possible too that RZ comes in both SUV and SUV Coupe variants.

Toyota bZ uses e-TNGA, but even bZ looks FWD-based.
Moreover, I don't think BEV's need the RWD-look with the front midship like layout - though I don't understand why one of their BEV 2 seater coupes looks so front midengined like.

I guess Toyota just likes the FWD look. It's better if the wheels are pushed out to the very ends for packaging efficiency on EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5. EVs should have noticeably better packing. I hope that SUV has 3 useable rows.

All else equal, long overhangs can improve safety in an impact by providing more crush-space ahead of the cabin.
