How do I quickly open/close door while still in Drive?
Before anyone even states it, we are well aware this is a safety issue and we understand it is not a best practice to open a door on a moving vehicle. The only time this might happen is if we are barely rolling but don't want to come to a full stop and put it in park - normally due to surrounding traffic. I don't know that it would be "safer" to come to a full stop and place the car in park to correct this. I'm not even sure pulling off the side of the road would be safer, and it isn't always possible if there are curbs preventing such a maneuver. This just seems like they were overthinking these new door latches in the name of safety.
I would pull out of the garage, and they are already locked.
You can either:
1). Press the door unlock button to unlock them.
2). Put the car back in Park, which auto-unlocks them.
3). But a coding tool or talk to the dealer about modifying auto-lock settings (TBD for me).
Tesla is even more abnoxious about it - it will slam the car from Drive/Reverse into Park if you open the door, which you might want to do to grab a water bottle before leaving garage, or get firsthand look at something on the ground before reversing over it.
