Dynamic sky roof heat?

Dynamic sky roof heat?
When the panoramic roof panel is opaque, it feels warmer to touch to me than when clear. I can feel heat on my head. It would make sense that since it requires current to be opaque it should produce some heat. This will be nice in the winter.
In the summer I am wondering if going clear will put less load on air conditioning? Or more due to more sunlight entering? Anyone else noticed the warming when opaque and have ideas about my above questions? Or am I wrong about heat production by the roof glass panel?

Just a guess. With the opaque glass you’re blocking sunlight which means the glass is also absorbing some sunlight. That is probably the heat you’re feeling as it radiates from the glass.
I’d guess that the interior would get hotter without the opaque glass as the sunlight is absorbed throughout the interior of the car.
I have not cked out the RZ myself but why can’t Lexus (and Tesla for that matter) also add a sliding sun shade?

We picked-up our RZ450e Premium trim last week.
Nope, the Panorama Glass Roof does not open on either model.
But with the Luxury trim you also get the Dynamic Pano Roof (you can darken it via a switch on the overhead console). There is a manual sunshade available from Lexus … I have not tried to orde it yet, but our sales rep said they are in short supply, so there may be a long wait.
Having such an expansive piece of glass overhead was of concern because I am always running hot (side effect of my meds), and we live in California and often see plenty of 90-100+ days during the Summer. But even without the Dynamic feature, or a manual sunshade, I don’t find the interior getting overly hot. We’ve had mostly all 95 degree days this past week and it’s been fine. And the RZ sits out in the driveway most days and gets the full afternoon sun beating overhead. Yes it’s toasty when getting inside at first, but the A/C does a good job of cooling the cabin down quickly.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
