Default Coming: Lexus RZ450e

Looks like Lexus is getting their version of the Toyota bZ4X soon.

We're expecting the RZ to wear the RZ450e designation, given that Lexus has already trademarked that moniker. The number 450 suggests more power than the 215 horsepower than the bZ4X offers in two-motor form, so we think the Lexus will use a more potent all-wheel-drive two-motor setup. The company previously shared details on a powertrain called Direct4 that used a 201-horsepower electric motor on both the front and rear axle, so the RZ450e could make around 350 or 400 horsepower in total.

To go along with its luxury purview, the RZ is also likely to have a more sumptuous interior than its Toyota sibling. We don't know if the bZ4X's yoke-style steering wheel will make its way into the Lexus, but the materials inside the cabin should be plusher and more upscale. We'd expect the Lexus to start around $50,000, and an F Sport version will probably be part of the lineup.

Look for more details to come on the Lexus RZ sometime in 2022.

Exterior looks much better than Toyota's version. Hopefully the interior is also a big upgrade.

Looks awesome. The bz4x/Solterra design works well on the Lexus since it already has many of those creases in it's design language. Can't wait!

Hopefully they juice it up a bit. The Toyota version is painfully slow.

I don't think this will be the same size as the bZ4X because 1) the concept it's based on had much larger dimensions and 2) this has the "R" nomenclature meaning it'll be around the size of the RX.

Also painfully poor range. 220 miles w/ AWD is unacceptable for a new EV made from the ground up on a BEV-bespoke skateboard chassis, especially with the 72kWH battery. The RZ shouldn't have the same problem though because the concept indicated the battery will be near 90kWH.

Looks promising. Was hoping for a lower price point though.

Yeah. Same here. I can’t wait to see what Lexus offers.

Think there will be "RC"/"RZ" confusion in the showroom? I would have picked a different letter.

I don't think there will be. All comes down to marketing.

The amount of people who know about/care about the RC is low, so doubt it.

Default Lexus RZ EV

About time even if it's the luxo cousin to the BZ4X / Solterra...

To Motorola's point, I wonder if this is also a midsize based vehicle, that also previews next gen RX? Probably not, but would be nice.....

since there's already an RC and RX i don't think an RZ will be confused with an RC.

U - ultra compact?
N - normal compact?
R - regular?
G - grand?
L - yuuge
