The info above indicates that it only needs bluetooth to talk to the car - that's fine. But suppose the login service for the app isn't working for some period of time, can you still bring up and use the digital key functions if the app can't log you in? I have a feeling the answer is "no", and that may explain some of the time gaps in functionality people have noted here.

I don’t think the app fully opens without logging in. So it would be a problem. So we’re back to my 4 month finding that the Digital Key has been glitchy but has never failed. But I wouldn’t leave town without the FOB.

I have been using the Dig Key for a couple of months and it quit working about a week ago. Does anyone have an idea of how to get it working again?

I believe that the app was updated.

I've read many mentions of the "credit card key" on this forum, but I've never actually seen one. Which car maker initially issued them? And are they no longer available?

I am not sure if Lexus discontinued the key card completely or they just do not offer for the new RX. I had one for both of my LX570s and they were outstanding.

The credit card key measures 3 1/4" x 2 1/16" x 1/8", and can be easily stored where your other credit cards are kept.

I got this from our Lexus dealer with our 2013 RX 450h.

Within this card key, is a mechanical key as well.

I don't remember if our ES350 had this kind of key, I'm thinking that it didn't.

I activated my digital key. Maybe that is why I am getting this message.

Check your front bumper has it been tampered with. If yes, somebody attempted to jack the vehicle.

Digital key? What’s that? BTW, if you’re right that message will go away in a week or so.

This message is normal. It lasts about 10 days after activating a Digital Key, then disappears on it's own. And it may come on again after you have to re-activate after a software update. This is what happened once.

This KEY message has nothing to do with that. It was because he/she activated a Digital Key.

Default I have the digital key but it won't let me drive

Wife took key fob while I was sitting in the car on my phone. I used the digital key to start the car and get the A/C going. But when I tried to put the car in gear, just touching the brake pedal shut the car off. I tried over and over - there's no way for my 2023 RX350h to be driven using my iPhone's digital key. Is this really the way it's designed???

First off, do you have the Digital Key feature or were you using the Lexus app Remote Start function? If you used the digital key, they car would allow you to drive off. Remote Start in the Lexus app will only allow you to start the car but not drive away.
