Just ran into an issue with our center console lid that we'll have to get warrantied. When you depress the release on the driver's side and lift the cover, you hear a click of the latch resetting right away. This isn't supposed to happen until you close the lid. When it clicks, you then need to depress the button again to close the lid.
I just had mine replaced under warranty on my 2023 RX 350h. It took the dealer about 90 minutes, including getting the car washed. The part had to be ordered and took about a week to arrive. The service advisor indicated this is a common problem that most people are not even aware it is an issue. I probably had the defect since I purchased the car new and only recently discovered I had to push the button on the driver's side to close the console while on passenger side the console closed by just pushing the lid down.

Same issue here. Dealer denied warranty stating that I broke the lever that keeps the latch open while slamming the lid - definitely didn't do that.
If you open it up you will see a little lever on both driver and passenger sides - the side that works will be evident while the side that doesn't may be inside it's "closed" slot.
I took the lid off of the console assembly (can pull it up around the edges, it's just clipped in) to investigate what was broken.
Turns out the lever has a spring on it and the lever has two posts that fit into holes so that it can pivot. The pivot supports have become weak, allowing the lever to fall out when under pressure.
My solution was to brace the pivot supports between the driver and passenger sides with a wedge so that the lever would not fall out of the pivot supports.
If you pull the lid off, this is what you see.
I also tried to attach a video showing how it works.
I will likely replace the wood with something adjustable - mini-all thread with nuts maybe.
Lid pulled off, showing left and right levers. Temporary wood between the pivot posts keep the drivers side from flexing and allowing the lever to slip out.
Interesting. As I said, mine hold for a second or two then the latch assembly slams into the lock position that is supposed to happen when you close it.
