Windshield crack, no obvious rock chips
Curious if anyone has gotten Lexus to replace windshield based on defect in which the glass arbitrarily cracked?
Someone posted a while back they had a crack start in the upper right passgenger side area of the glass from the roof/molding down. I have the same thing.
I take it in for the 10k service next week and will ask about it. I am not hopeful though. Looks like the crack started under the glass molding at the top. and runs down about 8 inches so far.

As I reflect back on all the cars I have owned, Acura, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, and BMW, I have only had issues with rock chips and cracks on Lexus/Toyotas. Bad luck I guess.
I will ask. However, I have over 10k miles on the car. I think if it was a new car they might be more inclined. But being almost a year old, I doubt any dealer would replace. But like I said, I will ask as the worst they can say is no.

Toyota/Lexus use Pilkington for their glass.
Honda/Acura use Fuyao.
I don't know who makes glass for BMW.
I was hit by a tiny rock, the OEM windshield is very weak IMHO. I had it filled to stabilize it, they wanted $2000 to replace it and I didn't want to hit my insurance policy for that, so I will wait until I get a second bigger hit.
Check with your insurance company. If this was done by a rock which probably is the case. Your comprehensive coverage should cover things like this, and you pay whatever deductible. I've done this with rock cracks & when a shelf fell on my hood parked in the garage and comprehensive covered with no visible premium increase. If you do decide to repair make sure they to use the proper molding insulation to protect the windshield. .

I had a rock chip perhaps within 1 month of my ownership - but thankfully it was not a crack, but a pit-groove. This was despite driving conservatively - that is, not tailgating anyone.
Even though it didn't need "fixing", I had the pit-groove filled with resin.
Given this tendency for glass damage in Lexi that I'm hearing about in the forums (also on the 2nd Gen NX's), I bet on ShatterX - which is a glassy-coating on the outside of the the windshield you apply as DIY ever 1 year or so, for about $35 or so. Better than "no protection" and having to worry about the monstrous costs and hassle of windshield replacement, I figured - given all the sensors and calibration. I'm not going to claim it does wonders, because I can't prove it does - however, I have actually "heard" rock hits to my windshield after applying it, but haven't located any cracks or grooves visually so far.

I got my first windshield chip that led into a large crack at around 3k miles. Now I have another crack forming from another very small chip; so small that I can hardly see where the crack started from. Just looking at the long cracks, it is obvious that the glass is VERY thin, compared to my past vehicles. I am most disappointed, but I am sure that the fuel millage that I am saving due to the reduced windshield weight will more than pay for its replacement
