Default Crappy Windshield glass?

I saw some other threads about this, but is the glass soft or something? I have got a bunch of small chips in the windshield. My car only has 3600 miles on it and is almost 6 months old. Has anyone contacted their dealer about it? I have an appointment for Monday for them to take a look at it.

My 13 years old son was wondering too, he asked me, Daddy why all your Lexus Windshield has little chip rock all over the glass ? i told him because its a Lexus its Unique glass. sometimes i lied to my friends, Lexus is the best ! whenever i say the truth about Lexus on here MORON comes and bash at my post.

I noticed that too on my Lexus with 11000 miles. However - and this is only a speculation - a "softer" (if there is such a thing) glass my have much lower tendency for cracking, because frankly I rather have thousands tiny chips (hardly visibly) than a single inch+ long crack.

Windshield is garbage. I had hundreds of pits and it finally broke one day. Had it replaced but my other cars don't pit nearly as much.

This may be a safety issue that Lexus will have to deal with (sooner or later). My 2 year old 3IS with 10K miles on it has more pits than my 24 year old MR2 did when I sold it. And the MR2 had 120K miles on it, much of it driven under rougher road conditions and at higher speeds than the Lexus.

I also have a two year old 3is with three chips and lots of pits. Only 12k miles on it.

Same here. I had the windshield on my 2016 3IS replaced 6 months after purchase. Took a stone and immediately began to crack....right across the drivers side.

So my new windshield has about a dozen little pits in it so far. By far the worst glass I've dealt with in all my vehicles.

About 16 months into my lease my windshield took a stone. Woke up the next morning and came out to the car in the garage and there was a crack that went half way across the windshield. Had to have it replaced rather than just repaired, which is what I was planning on doing initially.

Has anyone had their's replaced by the dealer? If so, what have they done? Has anyone had any type of after market windshield installed?

Or perhaps is there some type of film that can be applied over the glass?

15k odo. I got 3-4 visible pits you can see. However, under the right lights, my windshield looks sand blasted. I travel a lot of freeway soo... yeah.

I wonder if there is anything like a clear bra for glass lol. But then again, it would be very unsafe because of color discoloration as well as being exposed to the elements.

I guess the best option is to replace the glass for something stronger. Anyone have an aftermarket brand that is good?

Mine is also awful. So is my Porsche Boxster, so, there must be something in common here. Maybe the clarity of the glass?

I use ClearPlex on my Huracan. $400 but saves a $3K windshield.

FYI, Lexus uses acoustic glass. Helps with sound deadening.
