Default random pin request

I took my 2024 RX350h in for its 6 month service a few weeks ago. The re-set something to fix a malfunctioning parking sensor. Now I am randomly getting a request to enter (or set or change) a PIN with no clue what it relates to. Looking through the manuals still does not explain the PIN request. See attached screen grab. I have been afraid to enter any PIN without knowing what feature requires the PIN. I just hit the x and it goes away and come back later.
What is the PIN used for and how can I fix this?
Joe

Your pin was set up at delivery by you. Have you forgotten it? If you have you’ll need to call Lexus to reset it.

I purposely told my wife to pick something she’d remember years from now if she had to guess. We used the last 6 digits of her social.

That happened to us and we texted our salesman as to how he had us set it up. Called us right back and reminded us of it. Entered the pin all's been good for weeks.

Your vehicle regularly syncs information with the cloud to ensure your profile remains updated and secure. If for any reason your vehicle is not able to connect to the cloud to sync, you may be prompted to enter your 6-digit PIN once your vehicle is back online to make sure it's still you.

Does this mean you lose the ability to have multiple profiles once your Lexus subscription services end? I think not.

if you forget your PIN, you can reset in the Lexus phone app under account settings.

The only reason I can think of Lexus doing this is because they want to be able to track all owners of the vehicles through a digital means and this ensures every customer uses the app where it was optional in the past . Not sure it adds much value from a security and data protection standpoint.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my question. Problem solved. I went into the lexus app and created a new pin code. Did not need to know the old one. Then the next time the pin request came up I entered it. It has not asked me again for the pin.
A big thanks to chuckNX who explained in detail how to fix it.

Default 2023 350h asking for PIN on dashboard

Suddenly my dashboard is asking me to enter a PIN. Why? I don’t think I have a PIN anyway. I keep clearing the window (so I can see the map) but it pops back up asking for a PIN.

Look in the regular 5th gen Rx forum and put "random pin request" in the search bar. There are several posts and solutions to this issue.
