Took my RX to get detailed yesterday. Now, every time I start the vehicle, I get this message and I can’t do anything to get rid of it for 10-15 seconds. It’s like the screen is temporarily locked. After 10-15 seconds, I can close out of it and the screen goes back to normal.
I remember seeing this with the tech guy when I initially set up my PIN, but no idea why it is all of a sudden showing up now or if it could be related to something the detail guy did (he only had it an hour or so) or not. I’ve done nothing of which I’m aware to create another PIN. When I try to hit send link, nothing happens either. At any rate, anyone have any ideas how to keep this from appearing on start up? The dealer is 200 miles away, so a quick trip there is not in the cards.
The pin is related to your user profile in the car and connects with your app. It's simple to create. Just click "send link" and it will send you a text message. Follow the link in the text to the app and create your pin. Takes less than a minute or two and then the message will be gone.
But it sounds like it was setup already at delivery, why is it asking again? I wonder if this is a result of someone driving the car (the detailer), who didn't have the app running/paired with the car? The Send Link button doesn't work, as the OP is reporting.

Right. I have already done this and have a PIN. This just showed up out of the blue. When I try to hit send link or close out the screen, nothing happens. After 10 or 15 seconds I can close out of the screen.

If you have the Lexus app on your phone you can reset the pin there.

Reason: Adding pic
Was on the phone with Lexus for an hour. They have no solution other than to take it back to the dealer. They could see that I had the app and already had a PIN. They did not recommend resetting the PIN.
To be clear, I have done nothing to generate this message. It just randomly began to appear out of the blue a couple of days ago.

The afternoon I picked up my car I tested everything I could think of before accepting the car except for 1 thing. The heat, specifically the drivers side dial. The heat was in the car already so the I turned it off as it was warm. I didn’t need the heat until the next morning and is when I noticed the dial was stuck at 80 degrees. The car was less than 12 hours old at this point. I returned to the dealership and they stated it was the controller behind the main screen, which of course they couldn’t get. I told them they needed to take it out of one the cars on the lot, which they did.
Sorry for the long story but when they installed the new controller it needed my pin which I had already forgot. They got their tech guru involved which he told me to reset through the app as I wasn’t getting the emails as well. Resetting through the app worked perfectly for my situation.

I can't see how resetting the PIN through the app could make the situation any worse. What do you have to lose?
Maybe the detail guy was playing with your infotainment unit, got onto some screen where an option was changed, and it asked for the PIN to confirm the change - he didn't have it, but it retained the system in that mode.

Yea. Probably right. I will probably watch it for a couple of days and then try this. Can’t help but think it had something to do with the detail since it happened as soon as I left the detail shop.
Tried resetting the PIN. Did nothing. Also found that I cannot change the user profiles. Was back on the phone with Lexus this morning. They re emphasized I must take it back to the dealer. I poked around the NX forums and found a fairly lengthy thread about resetting the PIN message. Doesn’t appear to be any easy fixes.
I’ll post once resolved but will probably be a couple of months at the 5000 mile service as long as the status quo remains since I am currently 3.5 hours from the dealer.
I would try removing the RX from your Lexus app and also resetting the system on the RX under the settings screen. The screen should reboot and take you back to where you get the QR code and you can add the RX back into the app. If that didn't work, I might try making a new account for the Lexus app and repeat the process but with the new account. Hope this solves your issue.

If I were a bit more tech savvy I would probably try this, and may if the issue happens to get worse. At this point, after 10 to 15 seconds, I am able to clear the message. Not ideal, but I can live with it for a while. I am doubtful taking these measures would work because both of the Lexus tech people I spoke with were adamant it had to go back to the dealer, particularly given the user screen in the infotainment system is locked up.
