Ouch!
Had to replace the center tail light on our 2023 RX. While just the plastic lens needed to be replaced, it could not be done. Had replace the entire center light assembly with a part cost of $1500 plus labor.

Somethings never change and we all know this, but if I built our RX from parts it would cost $482,000!

Too new not to fix right away and it’s my wife’s vehicle.

 

Context would help as to why it was needed to be replaced since it's a new vehicle.

Being that the center light bar is decorative, perhaps a matte-black covering like Plasti-Dip would be a 'good look'?

The light 'bar' on the tailgate between the tail lights is my understanding of what cost $1500

 

I thought he meant that at first myself. Carbuff2’s comment made me think it was the hatch’s running light bar. OP wasn’t super clear.

 

It had to be an accident or it would be replaced under warranty right?

 

The center tail lamp bar on the rear lift gate is part 81580-0E260 and it retails for $1079.68 at a Lexus dealer. There are some franchise Lexus dealers offering a discounted price of $791.91 and a few used ones in the $400 range on eBay. All in all, it's quite expensive plastic. Yikes!

 

Plasti-Dip is never a “good” look.

 

How about a Hammered-finish paint then? ('Bumpy")


The objective is to cover-up and seal any cracks.
