Default Automatic Braking

Has anyone experienced the car auto braking for no noted obstructions? This has happened to me three times and the car does not allow you to proceed in the same direction. I had to go an entirely different way to proceed. Can this safety feature be overridden?

That is strange, I know in my garage if I get to close it auto brakes, but I can bypass by pressing the gas pedal again and it let me touch wall in my case. I however have every safety feature turned off expect the auto collision stop, just incase. Everything else I had disabled from day 1, couldn't stand proactive driving where it was braking for me when taking turns etc. It may the car feel like the brakes were always on.

Thank you! I am going to have them turn off all the safety features as well when I go for my 5,000 mile check up.

I would keep the forward collision on just reduce its sensitivity, the others you can disable from screen. There no way to shut off the cross traffic indicator, but you can shut it down so that it doesn't stop vehicle. The best one to shut down is the active 360 thing that slows the speeds on it's own, that what make you feel like your in overdrive or stuck with the brakes on all time.

We can all pay for systems that do not perform well: Few small SUVs excel in new IIHS front crash prevention test

It's only matter of time before there limiting speed, it bad enough the app is probably reporting you. I was in GM rental it wouldn't let me shift out of park till I put my seat belt on, I mean enough.
Hopefully there change in NOV otherwise we are headed down a bad path of nonsense.

Spot on. I prefer to drive the car, not have the car drive me.

In the 70s I used to drive a tow truck near a dangerous stretch of highway. I saw some pretty horrific things and the difference that seat belts made to people remaining alive and in one piece. Although in my invincible early twenties, It didn't take me long to learn - I've always used my seat belts since those unforgettable sights. I'm sure none of those people intended to get in an accident on their last day. Although they may be inconvenient at times, I'll use all the safety features available. Do as you wish.

Admittedly, some of the safety features take a bit of getting accustomed to but, all in all, I prefer having them active in any of my vehicles. I recall a knucklehead that I knew back in the early 80's that always bragged that he never wore a seat belt because, if he was ever in a collision, he wanted to be "thrown clear of the car and not trapped inside". He got his wish one day, and was thrown out of the car, only to have the car roll over him and crush him to death. I also vote....do as you wish.

Oh I remember it well! The good news about that is that the interlock issue awoke the sleeping giant, and that substantially slowed Big Brother …unfortunately, not enough.😡

Best to keep all of the safety features on......they are there for a reason. God forbid, your life and family's lives may depend on them one day. Not to mention, all of the idiot pedestrians crossing streets and/or in store parking lots who are more fixed on looking at their phones rather than what is in front of them or what is coming at them, while walking.

I don't mind safety features, but they are extreme! Pull into garage, sounds like a nuclear missile attack with all the bells going crazy, ATM, same thing, it's distracting in itself. Too too much.
