You can’t do it. It’s on the list of things we’d like added.

You can’t. Lexus doesn’t support “walk-away” touch less locking. You need to touch the front of the door handle to initiate locking.

Default Lock and walk away feature

I have found this feature to be very unreliable. When it works, I hit the lock button and hear one beep and then the count down time starts with slow single beeps. When it fails I get the one single beep then two quick beeps and nothing happens. No idea why it fails? Key is in pocket and all doors closed. Dealer has no idea.
Any idea on what the 2 beeps means?

It's unreliable for me, but works more often than not. It has never failed for me, once it starts the count down beeps. You do have to step away from the vehicle after pressing the button, or it will never work.

When I get the two beeps it's usually because the key is just a bit too far away, or my foot is under the bumper. The kick sensor can't detect you and the vehicle has to think the key is right next to the rear hatch for it to activate.

I just turn sideways so I'm clear of the bumper and the key (which is in my side pocket) is closest to the vehicle... Then it activates.

I've also found I need to walk away to the rear for it to reliably complete the operation, once activated. If I walk towards the front of the vehicle sometimes it will cancel. If I need to end up near the front then I've learned to take a "J" path where I first walk away then curve around back to the front once I'm clear of the vehicle.

My key is in my pocket, always the same distance. It fails or works immediately. I do not see any pattern.

Thanks for the work around. That is not how it should work according to the manual. I am meeting with the Lexus rep and going to ask him how it is not working as designed. This is a design issue that I don't want to live with.

It failed again yesterday when someone walked by the side of the car in a parking lot. Had to manually close and lock. Since this time it hasn't failed in over 20 cycles. It is working as the manual says (no tricks). I stand behind the hatch hit the button, I get one beep and the countdown time starts. I can walk any direction and immediately to 30 seconds and it works (hatch closes and car locks). Not sure what changed. This is how it should work for all. If it doesn't, see dealer or schedule to meet with Lexus field rep. Anything else is not acceptable.

Default 2024 RX 350h - KeyFob auto lock when walking away?

Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to program the 2024 RX 350h to automatically lock the doors when you walk away with keyfob in pocket. The Lexus dealer is telling me this is NOT possible. They say I must use the Lexus App to lock the doors remotely (subscription required at the end of the trial period).

I do not believe the RX has that feature.

This was added to the Collated listing of additions we'd like to see to Lexus multimedia a while back.

BMW has a nice version of the walk away and walk up unlock, the key never leaves pocket.
