Default Anyone installed OEM Door Edge Guards?

I see the instructions that come with it but when placing next to the door edge the fit is so tight I'm worried about chipping the paint by hammering them on as suggested by the instructions. Has anyone installed these themselves?

I did not know you had to hammer them on. I had 3RX that the dealer has installed them before I purchased and they were nice looking. Not so sure how much they would help me as I never let my door edge hit anything.

When we install them at toyota you use a rubber mallet and it should go on with no problem. Start at one end and just keep tapping it on it.

Default Door edge guards

Hi dear fellow Lexus RX owners. I am a new guy here. About a month ago I got myself a brand new RX. This is my first Lexus ever In my life. Prior to Lexus I have been driving only German brands.
I have a question for the community. As the title of my post reads, I wonder what is the general consensus for door edge guards. Do people keep them? Do you remove them? Thank you for all of your replies!
ps, oh yes I looked through the threads extensively and could not find a definite answer))

I didn't have them on my 2015, and wished that I did. I got them on my 2018, and am very glad I have them. I share a two car garage with my spousal unit and her Hyundai ..... not going any further down that road! LOL

Had it on 2013 RX350 as well as on 2015 Rav4. Installed edge guards on recently purchased 2020 RX350, too.
All 3 vehicle also had body side molding installed. Wouldn't do it any other way

Kind of like a car bra their look doesn't appeal to some plus door edge guards can promote rust by collecting water sand dirt next to the paint although they increase dealer profit. rusthttps://youtu.be/cf8dkSjwXN0

That is exactly my fear.
Sort of like an iphone that has always been in a case, ater one year it is in much worse shape that without it. I worry about bunch of a road dirt to be just sitting there.

We picked up our 2020 RX350 on Monday and today I ordered the door edge guards from our Lexus dealer. The cost was $136 dollars for the guards. I then ask what would be the cost to have them installed. To have Lexus install the door edge guards would be $275 dollars! Wow is about all I can say to that. I've installed door edge guards in the past and after reviewing several videos I'm going to install these. I'll post photos before and after in a couple of days.

Yes, probably. If door edge guards come already on a vehicle, it's probably ~$160 add-on.
But OEM edge guards of matching color could be purchased online under $90 delivered, and it's very easy and quick to install.

I don't have the guards but I installed door edge film myself. $15 bucks of material and 30 minutes to install for pretty good protection. Can't tell they're there unless you're looking for it.

Agree never had them. They only protect the owners car from opening the door into another object (car, wall etc.). I don't open my car into other objects.

My wife's RX has door edge guards; my RX doesn't. I'm ducking now.

My 600 has the film guards on the door edges. It chips over time and looks crappy upon close inspection where that has happened. The RX has the thick color coded ones installed at "port." The sticker price was $140.
