Since the digital speedo would be in the dash at about the same location as the standard speedo it would fall under the same situation as not being ideal in certain situations where the suns angle washes out the dash.

I thought I would miss the digital speedo more than I ended up missing it. Waze fills the need for me.

I love the digital speedo on my RC. The console display is sometimes a little distracting on the RX and would have much preferred the HUD as I have on my Vette but..........

Somehow we've all muddled through with analog speedometers for decades and decades

If you get the HUD option on the RX, you get a nice digital readout.

Default Base RX350 digital speedometer?

Does the base 2021 RX350 have a digital speedometer in the center of the dash?

I know the F sport has one or I could get the HUD (hard to find in a sub 60k msrp car).

No, I believe the digital speedo is still only available on the F-Sports.

Rather disappointing Lexus couldn't have added one in the refresh like what they did with the base NX in 2018.

Glance at needle while driving, and within a thousandth of a second, the brain should register and report your speed - no further calculating required (lol)

Either way is fine. My ES FSport displays digital only.

I agree with MkenM - We had a digital read-out next to our regular speedometer on our '11 RX, and it was disconcerting. (distracting, ridiculous).

You should be able to go to the settings to the MID (Screen in between gauges) and select the pages to show.

then go back to the first screen and go up and down until you see the digital speed.

it is there in my 2018 RX

Nope. The only way to get a digital speed display on a non-F-Sport 2020 is to have the HUD.

Default New owner 2021 RX350-observation on displayed speed limit

New owner of a 21' RX350, Green Nori Pearl, just going to pass 1000 miles. I was confused (not difficult) about the speed limit display on the car. I have Nav, so the speed limit, when available, is displayed on the Nav screen, I also have the HUD, and the speed limit is also displayed on the HUD, and on the dash display, but not always at the same time. I couldn't figure out why sometimes the speed limit display would show up on the car's display and other times it would only be on the Nav or at all three locations until I realized that while driving on a newly lowered speed on a stretch of road that the Nav had to "old" speed limit of 65 (which makes perfect sense since that data should come from the map version) but the car had the "new" speed of 45 displayed on the HUD and dash...I always assumed (I know...) that it was one system displaying the info, but it isn't. So, where is the car getting the info?
Also, in reference to the "Lane Keep Assist" thread, mine also pulls to the left. My last car that had this kept it centered in the lane, this one does not.

I believe what you are seeing is the disparity between the GPS database, which has speed limits that are collected by the company that provides the data for Toyota Nav systems, versus what you are seeing in the HUD and the information display on the dash. That HUD and info display data is from the Road Sign Assist (RSA), which is a camera in the windshield that actually reads certain road signs as you pass them. The RSA doesn't always recognize the signs flawlessly, so sometimes it doesn't show the speed limit. RSA also only recognizes 4 signs; Speed Limit, Yield, Stop and Wrong Way. It can show up to three signs at a time in your dash (and probably HUD as well). Page 236 in my 2021 manual describes this in detail.

The bottom line is the difference is simply that the GPS display is from a database and the dash/HUD display is from the camera reading the actual signs.
