Update ..... per the tech guy at my local dealer , there is no labor charge for the map update for the navigation. It's a micro SD card.
was there today for my free 10k and asked specifically because of this thread .

he did say older model? Needed to be fed the update and took about 1.5 hours. Not sure , never had one.

When I inquired at my local dealership, the svc advisor quoted ~$250 for the microSD card and ~$80 for the required "labor", which uses special computers to "sync" the vehicle's" nav system. Ugh. He also advised to wait for the next update, which is expected sometime in the next few months.

At those prices, I'm more inclined now to install the 3rd party interface (mentioned earlier in this thread, I think); so I can use apps, like Waze, on the vehicle's large display, and not have to bother with overpriced map updates.

Default Cost for NAV Update for 16RX

What have any of you been paying dealer installedfor NAV Update for 16RX?

Is there a CD/USB you can buy and do yourself? If so how much is that and was it difficult?
Thanks

It's a micro SD card, above the socket in the bottom center cubby There is a little pannel that comes off.
Update is an SD card swap. No labor at my dealer, per my previous posts.

Does not look like Lexus maps are done at HERE. Here is a link that shows all car manufacturers that HERE supports. https://here.navigation.com/north-america/node/69

HERE (formerly Navteq) provides the map data to Toyota and Lexus. I know because I've been editing maps for HERE for many years. Toyota-Lexus may compile the updates itself but the map data come from HERE.

Default Map Version - Up to Date?

In checking through the Map information I found the date to be June 1, 2018 and the Version is 21-38-17. I would have thought that the date would be a little more recent. Just got the vehicle a few weeks ago, New 2019 RX 350. Anyone know their date or Version?

Quick check of the oldest and newest 2019 RX's in stock shows that the Map Version 21-38-17 2018-06-1
is the same in both. Oldest was built 9/20/2018 and the newest was built 2/1/2019.

Are these build dates you quoted the car build dates or the software build dates? Doesn’t Lexus inform customers when there is a map software update?

Default Nav Update

My wife says she wants the Nav data updated. I know it comes out in October, so if I go now will I get the new data or last years? I know the new data comes on a micro SD card and where it goes. Does it really have to be installed at the dealer or can I just put the card in myself? Thanks all for any info you can provide.

I was at a dealer yesterday asking about nav updates. I was told that they do not update every year, and would not update this year. I think he said the one they have now was 2018.

According to the versions and dates listed above mine is 2 yrs. older. Mine is ver. 21-36-17 (2016-06-01) where the ones listed above are ver. 21-38-17 (2018-06-01). I think I will wait and try to get the new one which should be coming out soon. Actually why can't we get the (2019-06-01) now?
