I would like to update the map in my wife’s 2016 RX 450h. The vin starts with a 2. I found two part numbers for the SD card through web search. Please help identify the differences between the part numbers:
86271 0E050 and 86271 0E030
Can I just pop out the old one and insert this new one or is there some sort of Dealership software unloads that needs to happen in conjunction with the installation?
Can anyone assist me with a Navigation SD card update issue?
2017 RX450H... Received the latest update and when following instructions, get a SD card read error. I've tried numerous times with no success. Old sd card still works fine.
Some say a dealer must update, others say not so. Does anyone have a definitive answer?
I have a 2017 RX350 and it must be updated by the dealer as there is no SD card that I know of.
Perhaps a RX450H is different, but I doubt it.
I have a 2021 450H, no SD card slot that I have found, I believe it is internal. It would be nice if over-the-air updates were possible. According to Lexus web site, the dealer must update. $161 for the SW, + dealer installation cost. So probably close to $400 when factoring in 1 hour of shop time. I am happy to have Apple CarPlay as a backup.
I found this: https://www.lexusoflasvegas.com/what...s-rx-and-rx-l/ If you choose the Navigation Package with your 2020 RX, you can download updates from a Lexus cloud server directly through your vehicle’s Wi-Fi. There is no need to purchase SD cards to update your navigation system.
Starting in model year 2018, many Lexus vehicles utilize Dynamic Navigation, which automatically updates map and route information from the cloud in real time. This system uses Dynamic Routing to automatically locate the fastest route, giving you Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) information that’s up-to-the-minute accurate and helpful for avoiding traffic jams caused by construction, accidents, or road closures. Another feature of this system is Dynamic POI, which locates points of interest along your route such as restaurants and hotels. As of now, there are roughly 14 million points of interest loaded into the system across the country.
If your Lexus uses this system, updating it is as simple as maintaining your Lexus Enform Dynamic Navigation subscription. The subscription is free for the first three years you own your Lexus, and can be easily renewed right here at Metro Lexus. The price is $169 for a two-year subscription, and the system will continue to automatically update via the cloud for as long as your subscription remains current.

Very cool. I have the Dynamic Nav option. I just thought it updated routes based on latest cloud data for the current destination. I did not realize it also updated the system map library so it is persistent. Of course, I mainly use the iPhone with CarPlay as it is much simpler for me although I have not compared the two to see which one is better for providing real-time route guidance.

definitely has the sd card slot on my 17 rx450 ml system
the 350 has one also. i had it in my hand.
it is on the right upper side of the cubby under the center stack, right under the airbag lights.

Yes, same location for my 2016 450h. Lexus claims that their new infotainment systems can’t be transplanted into older models like my 2016, yet, they can’t tell me what’s different in that it won’t work.
There is an SD card slot on the 2017 RX 450 H. It’s probably on your 350 as well if you know where to look. I removed the old SD card and inserted the most current SD card to update maps. The photo of the display shows that it’s unable to read the data. Putting the old SD card back in the slot, the navigation works fine

These map SD cards use copy protection schemes and are paired to a particular car. They are not formatted as standard FAT32 partitions normally used in SD Cards. Placing these cards on a PC can change its copy protection and formatting. I believe the cards are paired to the car when first inserted. If used on another car, it would not work on your car.
