Just bought a 2016 RX350. The navigation doesn’t work. Can the SD card go bad & will a new one work?
I’d open the compartment where SD Card is next to lighter. I’d take it out (push in a little & pull out) & put it back in. You’ll probably need tweezers. You take it out with the engine off and put it back in with the engine running. Pictures and instructions are in this thread back a couple of pages. It will take about 10 minutes start to finish.
if that doesn’t work & you bought it from Lexus ask them about it.

So for my 2018 I verified it was running on map data from 2017. Therefore there are a lot of changes in the areas which I drive. Roads added or widened. Worst is the area that is now one way vs dual direction.
I have been patiently waiting for someone to post there 2021 map data SD card on eBay to purchase. However learned today that it still requires a trip to the dealer. That is silly why it just doesn’t update based on the card inserted is beyond me.

i bought the 2021 for my 2018, at dealer for $159, took out old original, , installed new myself , no issues
So I received the new SD card today. I installed it with the engine off. Turned the engine on, the screen flickered a bit. And I got the following message. After ~10 min. no update. Restarted a few times and no progress. Any thoughts? I've scheduled a service appointment.

SOLVED!!!
Having a thumb drive in the USB port was blocking the installation. Once removed, the update took less than 10 min.
Finally jumped on the NAVMAP update and ordered it today. Just got tired of getting lost with old directions from the old map. Hopefully, it'll be here by next week.
Received the SD card updated map and installed it today. So I took off the existing SD Card with engine off and then inserted the new one in. Turned on the engine and got a flicker on the screen. I waited for about two minutes and no sign of, "New Software detected . . ." So I went on to the General Settings and navigate to the sub menus until I saw the "Software Update". Clicked on it and then it displays, "Software update . . . do not turn off engine." Less than 10 mins and the update stated, "Park in a safe place . . . stop engine and turn on engine to finish update" Did exactly that and update was completed. Checked on the map data and it states, 2021-06-01.
