Ask them to beat the price not just match it. The weather here is mild so you should be fine depending on your driving style. I am coming from a GS 350 so occasionally I like to pass other vehicles and cut in front of the exit line. That's why I am a bit annoyed that even the F trim is slow to accelerate and stop.

Check how much you can get from Carmax, Carvana etc. The 16' RXs are hot so you should be able to get a good price. I think you may be making a mistake because you absorbed the biggest hit on your old RX and now you are about to do the same. You probably paid the full sales tax and you will be hit with a lower price when you trade in. If you like driving a new car you should look into leasing.
Thanks Cezar9 - valid points indeed. I paid less on taxes for my 2016 because I traded in my 2008 RXh. In general I do keep my vehicles closer to 10 years. Only reason I was entertaining this was the combination of high value for trade in plus aggressive discount on the new RX350 F (I prefer the F styling). Also by trading in at the same dealership where I buy my new car, I can lower the tax significantly (only paying tax on remaining difference).

Financially speaking, yes, I'd have already taken the brunt of the initial depreciation... which I was trying to offset via an aggressive discount on the new vehicle.

See if you can get the same discount without your trade first. I suspect that a good chunk of the "discount" is coming from your trade. if I have to guess you are getting about 10% off on the new one plus whatever the Lexus cash is in your region. see how much the dealer is offering for your trade and make sure that you are comfortable with that number on a stand alone basis (plus a portion of the sales tax benefit). also you are so close to the December to remember event that you may want to consider waiting one more month.

I believe I am getting closer to a 15% discount off msrp before rebates. With rebates it’ll be closer to 20%.

that's very unlikely on an f sport. make sure that you are getting a fair price on your trade. otherwise you are tricking yourself to believe that you are getting a good deal on the new but you are ignoring the fact that you are subsidizing it by getting less money on your trade.

Exactly! If they are motivated enough, they’ll do the deal. Ball is in their court.

this may vary by month and region but I have been told by dealers that Lexus doesn’t allow them to offer more than a specific % off MSRP for every model and I think that % is right around 13 on the RX f sport. Even getting 13% before rebates is super tough. If you can get 15% and you are okay with the trade then you should probably feel pretty good about the deal overall. Also make sure they are not inflating any of the fees to make up for the discount.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum.

I am in the market for a 2018 Lexus RX350. Did some internet request and got an upfront price from a local dealership (I live in Wichita, KS). Please let me know your thoughts on it. This dealership does this kind of thing where they say they don't negotiate prices so they just give you an upfront price. I haven't been out to the dealership to get an OTD price.

MSRP: $55,390
Upfront Price: $50,013 + TTL
(discount of $5,377 which is roughly 9.7% off from MSRP)

Please let me know what you guys think. Thank you!

it’s not good at all. it includes the Lexus cash so the dealer is giving you only 5-6%. you need another 3K of discount to get close to an okay deal.

2018 RX350, approximately 300 miles on it, not entirely sure why it has miles but apparently vehicle was titled but purchase never went through?
MSRP 53 and change. Premium Package, 18 inch wheels, 12.3 Navigation.

Dealer is offering it at 42 and change.

Seems like a good deal?

Sounds like an incredible deal, over 10k off, 300 miles is not much and they're selling it to you as new. Why the 18" wheels, maybe car was special ordered because with the options and MSRP you listed the cars I normally see all had the 20" wheels.

I'm not sure. I was initially confused because the dealer website showed pics with the 20inch, then I saw they were just stock photos. Possibly custom ordered but the MSRP includes some other stuff like cargo mats etc.. Might ask if they can let me pay for the wheels package but the 18inch doesn't look too bad with the white/silver colors.

you don’t need to ask people about this one. it’s a really good deal. one thing I’m curious - if it’s been titled before are they selling it as used?

Thank you for the answer. I reached out to the dealership via email to request for an OTD price. This is what he got back to me.

MSRP: $55,390
Discount + Rebates: $5,377
Price After: $50,013
Admin Fee: $385
Sales Tax (Wichita, KS): $3,779.65
OTD: $55,177.85

You're right, that doesn't seem like a very good deal to me. They said that's their best price and won't negotiate because it's their philosophy so I'm just going to write an email back declining their offer politely. Maybe the market will change next month and I can get a better deal by then.
