Default Overhead console / dome light removal?

I've searched the forums and most of the pictures and steps I see were from previous models.
1. Does the 4th gen have any screws that I have to remove prior to pulling the whole unit?
2. Is it like previous models that require a fair amount of force to pull the plastic clips free?

Thanks so much in advance!

I'm wanting to remove mine to find a place to tap off for power for a dash cam. Already broke a tiny tab off the so-called "Cover, Forward Recog" (86466-48042), so I'm ordering a new one for $60. I'm sure the dome-light assembly is several hundred dollars, so I don't want to take any chances with it.

Tap off the rear view mirror. I had gotten a
 “mirror-tap” cable “mirror-tap” cable
and looked for power and ground from the connector to the rear view mirror. You can find the connector under the plastic cover of the camera on the windshield.

I was hoping someone had actually successfully removed their overhead console so I'd know for sure where to pull harder. I've seen a few posts that show just pull on the front (end closest to the driver) until the tabs pop out, but I pull on the console pretty darn hard and it doesn't budge. If anyone has removed this overhead console in an RX350, mine is a 2018, and has any useful tips, please, I'd love to hear them before I end up breaking something... Thanks!

Would you NOT be happy with this?

I've removed my console/dome light assembly some time ago and it was a fairly straightforward process (but definitely take your time), referencing a video that I'll try to find. I did this when I installed a dashcam that looks like a factory option, per another thread here on the forum which I'll also dig up...

EDIT: Link to dashcam thread:

EDIT #2: Some videos here, though I thought I watched one that was a bit more comprehensive...

FWIW, I bought this dashcam last July and it's still working just fine.

Great info mak99! Thanks for this. I just wish I had seen this prior to purchasing my dash cam a few days ago. Not sure I can justify purchasing another camera right away so I'll probably just pull down the console (carefully) and splice into 12v on the connector. But...I have a feeling I may soon replace it with this camera before too long...I like how it's out of the way.

It is very easy. Look at this video from Fitmax, the camera I have. The video shows the whole process.

IIRC, the video I'm thinking of might have been a YouTube link from the install instructions in the box.

Personally, I'd much rather have this built-in style with easy-connector harness than an external one that you have to cut/splice into the factory wires to get power. Of course you can easily replace that external style dashcam should it ever go TU, so it does have that advantage.

I guess I should pop out my SD card to make sure my dashcam is still working! Out of sight, out of mind...
