Oil recommendations
Hi everyone. I am trying to DIY replace the engine oil for my Lexus RX 350 baseline 2019 model (0w-20 and 5.5 L required). In my local, there is a deal for mobile 1, 4.97L+1L for $49.9. I plan to buy this for my RX. However, my friend told me that mobile 1 is more suitable for the German car, not Lexus, so he suggest just ordering from my local Lexus dealership. The Lexus genuine engine oil is $7.4 for 1L. Meanwhile, I heard that the Lexus genuine engine oil is made from Mobile 1. For now, I need a suggestion, which brand I should choose? Previously I used Pennzoil oil which significantly decrease the engine noise for my RX, should I use it again? By the way, how about the Supertech engine oil from Walmart? I see that is much cheaper than another brand. Does anyone use this for RX 350? Thanks in advance!
thanks for your help!
To be honest, I think any difference, is any, is placebo effect.
I started with Mobil 1, then Supertech, and now Kirkland motor oil. I can't tell any difference. My 2002 Honda Odyssey is still running fine. My brother-in-law is still driving my old 2002 Civic.

Almost every major brand has their premium grade of oil that has various additives in it. If you read the literature on that oil, it will tout it as being the best for one reason or another. That's the point of the ads--who knew?
In fact, for the tolerances and stress put on the common car on the road today, most any oil will do the job. More important would be the ability to operate in certain temperature zones as highlighted by the temperature range on the can--such as 10w-30 or something. Also important is the frequency of change --such as 5,000 miles or something other. For these parameters, one can default safely to the recommendations listed in the owner's manual. Note that the manufacturer will steer you to its house brand. Keep in mind here that the house brand oil is not manufactured by the auto company but an oil company that makes many brands.
I personally like the quality and additives stated to be in Amsoil 0w-20 synthetic. With that oil I feel like I'm getting the best on the market and that makes me feel good. But obtaining a regular oil and filter change combined by moderate driving habits is what will more likely keep your car healthy the longest time.

I checked a few Walmart stores in Dallas area and they all run out of it. Bought some from an Autozone with higher price. Did anyone else see the same?
Yes, no Wal-Mart in Allen, McKinney, or Plano had Mobile-1. In fact, Wal-Mart online stated it was in a Plano store and I placed an online order with the air filter, cabin filter, and oil filter, but they did not had the oil when I went to pickup the online order.
I needed to do my oil change this weekend, so I purchased the Mobile-1 0-20W Synthetic oil it at Napa Auto parts for $30. PepBoys and Auto Zone had it at $35.

I was picking up some filters and I noticed an entire pallet of Kirkland 0w20 oil.
the parts guy said they were having a hard time getting their regular oil....supply chain nonsense.
I wonder what they are charging for?

I'm sure they use the cheapest horse pi** they can find but as long as it meets spec, who cares.
For sure. My neighbor used to run a fleet of messenger trucks - mainly Dodge Caravans. He routinely changed oil every 3K (conventional) and ran those darn trucks to 400K miles plus using Super Tech oil.
