Default From the manual

From the 2016 RX manual...

When the engine switch is in IGNITION
ON mode and the headlights are
on, if the lever is pulled, the headlight
cleaners will operate once. After this,
the headlight cleaners will operate
every 5th time the lever is pulled.

I wonder if there is a way to code them out with carista? I know in my Audi, it was possible to use vagcom and turn off the headlight washers.

On my '05 RX the headlight washers really sucked up the washer fluid.
I haven't used the washers on my '16 enough yet to know if the usage is the same but my guess it is.

Does not having the headlights on, stop them from getting a bath?

Lights off, pulled 20+ times...never squirted the headlights. Just did it!

Short bursts and long squirts, didn`t matter...no headlights!

So if our headlights are off it will not work no matter what. If so, that works for me as an off button work-around.

I will just remember to turn on my headlights when I need to clean the headlights and not worry about it.

Thanks for trying and confirming that for us!

Still want my washers disabled as they serve zero purpose for me. I will do some hose crimping or stuff a toothpick in the nozzle this weekend

Default How to engage headlight washers?

Say, how do i use the headlighh washers?
Do they only work with the headlights on? Don't think i have ever noticed them.
Im in sloppy Minnesota, and have a sepsepar button to wash on my other vehicles. It comes in very handy up here.

Thanks much for the time

Read the previous posts in this thread and your questions will be answered! Does your RX have the cold weather package that includes headlight washers?

There is no longer a button on most Lexus models for activating the headlight washers although it wouldn't be all that difficult to sever the link between the windshield washer and headlight washers and make the headlight washers completely manual. I did this when installing a Hella headlight washer system on our Toyota Sienna van - instead of following the Hella instructions and linking the headlight washers to the windshield washers, I installed a dash mounted momentary switch and made the headlight washers completely manual. All it would take to do something similar on an RX is a bit of appropriate automotive wire, an aftermarket relay similar to one used for horns, a momentary switch, a few basic tools and your time.

It absolutely blows my mind you would even consider a car like this if you get no snow. I consider an SUV punishment for being dumb enough to live in an area that gets so much snow you need one just to get to the grocery store. if I was lucky enough to live in an area with no snow I would get the RC 350. That is sexy and fun to drive.
Try to have this argument with a woman. You will lose. They started this whole SUV movement some 30 years ago. Men was afraid of SUV because the thing was so big.
