When I retire in 10 years I'm thinking about buying a condo in Florida. Just live there from November to April. Then come back to New York when the temperature is about 60° Our summers are absolutely beautiful the high almost never gets over 85. It is lush and green just like Florida without alligators and mosquitos large enough to carry small children away. Our winter is absolutely miserable. That is why I want to escape to Florida.

Agreed - a lot of my tennis buddies leave for Florida around November and return in April, just as you noted. Our weather in western Massachusetts isn't quite as severe as yours however as we don't contend with the lake effect storms that you experience.
Like RXOwner I choose a SUV as my primary vehicle for the utility it provides. For me it means ferrying my daughter and friends to sporting games and practices with their gear and loading up the cargo area with trash for trips to the dump (twice a week). We don't have regular trash pickup. Also for trips to and from my son's college with his belongings.

During the summer I would like to escape to New York. My family is in Wildrose Wisconsin. I love to visit in the winter to do the snowmobile thing but after a few weeks, I am ready to get away from the cold and snow and gladly return to Florida.
I have been to upper state New York and it is breathtaking! A nice area of the country to say the least. Not so sure I would like to live in the city as I enjoy the driving and understand that many of the city people do not even have a car.
If you live where there is no snow why would you be caught dead driving an SUV? I would own a sports car and a high-performance motorcycle. There is nothing fun about driving a over grown station wagon. I only own then because it's a necessity where I live because of deep snow. If I had to tow a boat I would get something cheap, just a beater.
It absolutely blows my mind you would even consider a car like this if you get no snow. I consider an SUV punishment for being dumb enough to live in an area that gets so much snow you need one just to get to the grocery store. if I was lucky enough to live in an area with no snow I would get the RC 350. That is sexy and fun to drive.
This is a very loaded question. There are many answers - space for cargo, space for passengers, comfort, ride-height, practicality. The list goes on and is different for different people. If you want to get extreme and if you live in an area with deep snow, why not buy a 4x4 instead of a crossover?
I have a Toyota 4 Runner four-wheel-drive right now. In the summer it drives like a truck, there is no fun driving it .
It is my hope that the RX being more car like will handle better and be a little more fun to drive. I test drove the GX it handled ponderously. So for me the RX is a compromise because I live in such a snowy area, and in the summer want something relatively fun to drive. I hope this answers your question.
I do not live where there is snow. The washers do little to get rid of any dirt on your lights. They would work well for maybe melting snow. They serve no purpose for me and I am sure others.
I completely agree. I couldn't see that they actually did anything on my 04, even though we usually get a couple of snowstorms every winter. The current RX doesn't have the package that adds the washers, the Luxury Package I believe. I don't miss them.
The manual says something about the headlight washers activating with the first use of the windshield washers and then with every fifth use. That is of course if my memory serves...
It comes in the cold weather package and the luxury package. Might also be in the F Sport package, but I can't recall for sure if I saw it on the F Sports when I was shopping for mine.
Have my RX450h for 2 weeks now and I still cannot figure out where the headlamp washer switch is located. Anyone? I have the cold weather package and there are slots on my bumper right infront of the headlamps.
Does anyone know if its possible to disable the headlight washer? 99% of the time I just want to spray my windshield and if my lights are on its sprays the headlights too... very annoying :-/

I would like to disable them, too. They are useless in my opinion and living in Florida they have no use except to make a mess of the front of the vehicle. I will look to find and crimp off the hoses to them this weekend.
I used to have a separate button on my is350 for these to work but couldn't find one in my RX350 either and also checked the manual?
Please tell me if anything is incorrect from what I have gathered from this post... the only way to use them is the 5x pull of wipers and there is no option/setting to turn them off without crimping hoses?
Is this really correct as that would be a horrible design choice by Lexus unless I am missing something?
